How Does it Work? Each Friday of the course (see dates below) a new module is sent to students with a self-paced lesson and weekly challenge. Then, on the following Monday, in a "live chat" from 6 - 7 pm, the teacher will answer questions, provide feedback on that weeks challenge, and guide students through the joys of Java programming. Each module will contain multiple labs comprised of problems and a longer app at the end. Each individual lab will introduce a new concept / programming construct. Thats a few hours of available content per week! This hands-on, lab-based approach to learning programming reflects how programmers really learn--by doing, and at their own pace. What Technology Do I Need? Just a computer! The initial welcome packet you receive prior to the course start date will include instructions on how to install an IDE (the software youll use to write your programs) and how to connect to the Monday live interactions. Is There a Prequisite? While no previous programming expertise is required, Java is a relatively challenging programming language. Honors Pre-Calculus - Hopkins Campus
This course is open to Blake students who have successfully completed Honors Algebra II and who seek to enroll in AP Calculus AB after completing Honors Geometry; Blake students who have successfully completed Honors Algebra II and Honors Geometry and who seek to enroll in AP Calculus AB; Students from outside Blake who seek to complete the equivalent of a full-year Honors Pre-Calculus course during the summer. They must possess a strong foundation in algebra because the course contains advanced material and moves at a rapid pace; it is not recommended for remedial purposes. Before registering, Blake students must obtain their teachers permission to advance, as indicated by a signed Mathematics Acceleration Contract. Successful advancement requires a grade of B or higher on each of the comprehensive exams given during the summer course. This course emphasizes functions and their characteristics. Topics include: function notation and transformations; combinations and compositions of functions; linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions; and analytical trigonometry. In addition, sequences, series, parametric equations and limits are introduced in preparation for calculus. Elementary Stephens Session #2 (Females) - Camp Lake Stephens
The Stephens Session is a traditional camp experience for campers on the high end of the Autism spectrum or with mild developmental disabilities. Each camper in this session will have an individual counselor, and will stay in a cabin with 3 other campers and counselors. Campers will participate in all camp activities, including canoeing, games, arts and crafts, swimming, meals, and playing in the creek.
