Exploring Nature Camp - Churchill Park
Outdoor exploration and basics of ecology are the focus of this week. Well explore the woods, prairie and wet areas. Campers will roll logs looking for slugs and centipedes and learn why dark, damp places are important. Theyll wade in the water to net tadpoles and frogs - discovering that muddy and polluted water are different. Well crawl through the tall grasses to get a bugs eye view of the world. This is a hands-on, mind-on, and mud-on camp! A detailed letter will be sent prior to camp. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please be sure to bring a water bottle, snack, and apply sunscreen. Game On! (5-8) - Peninsula Fine Arts Center
Inspired by Pfacs upcoming exhibit, Game On! Learn about art in sports throughout the ages! We will begin by making clay vases like ancient Greek Olympic urns, then we will dive into archery painting, and finish by designing and creating our very own gold medals! Campers should bring lunch, drinks and two snacks (due to allergies, please make sure all food is peanut free) PFACs camps are led by one teaching artist per 12-15 students with assistance from Camp Counselors. If youre child may need additional assistance beyond what a teaching artist could provide, please let us know. Parents are always invited to stay in the classroom. 757-596-8175

Jump into Mary Pope Osbornes magical series of time-travel books with us! These stories, full of adventure, exploration, and history, come alive each week. Scavenger hunts, drama, creative arts, and history will round out the stories above. Throughout the course of the week, we will read the book together. Welcome to the Maker Movement! Maker Camp is inspired by the maker movement, which brings together people who like to create, make and explore - all while having FUN! Campers in Duke Schools Maker Camp will have opportunities to tinker, question, experiment, try something new, challenge themselves, work in teams, and get a little messy! Join us for a week of making awesome projects, virtual "field trips," and connecting with like-minded young makers from around the world on Google+.
