Daily activities for children who are in the two-year-old program are based upon projects and units of study. A balanced schedule provides experiences in group and individual settings and includes stories, music, language experiences, natural discovery, and inquisitive discussions. Classrooms are arranged into centers that include age-appropriate educational toys, materials, and games based upon the interests of the children. These include centers for books, blocks, sensory materials, art, puzzles and manipulatives, math, science, and dramatic play. Children have the opportunity to work and play in these centers individually, with a friend, or in small groups. Choosing centers provides practice in making decisions, following directions, working independently, and learning about the care and use of materials. Outside time offers opportunities for gross motor development (including climbing, running, jumping, pedaling, and building), social interactions, as well as a chance to experience weather and seasons. Children can also experiment with sand and water during these outside periods. Daily group lessons include stories, music, gross motor activities, language experiences, and discussions including questioning and research. Additional activities include cooking, growing plants, nature interactions, and having visitors share information about the unit studies. This activity may not be registered for individually because it is part of a package.Teen artists wishing to expand and deepen their understanding of arts experiences will want to join in this popular and intensive summer camp. Students of all skill levels will be engaged in the creative process through a variety of classic art mediums and techniques including painting, drawing, pottery making, printmaking, and more in a way they may not have time for during the school year. Because of the multi-media nature of this camp, there will be an emphasis on guiding teens to try new methods and embrace creativity! Artists should wear clothing that can get dirty during the creation of art. Baseball Camp A - Warner Park Baseball Complex
The basic design of the CDS Baseball camp is to help young baseball players develop a fundamental baseball skill set and learn tactical elements of the game. The goal of the camp is to equip campers with the skills to compete at a high level of play. The camp will be directed by David Houseton, CDS Varsity Baseball Head Coach at Covenant Day School. He will be assisted by his coaching staff as well as former and returning Covenant Day baseball players.
