P.L.A.Y.s After-School and Out-of-School-Time Programs exist to empower youth! We serve school-aged youth, ages 5-13, and partner with busy parents to teach their children leadership and problem solving skills using athletics and the power of play. We use the powerful life lessons learned in play and athletics to help youth discover what they want to be in life and develop the skills to get them there. We happily serve as the active and entertaining alternative to day care for school age youth. Our variety of activities all youth explore sports of all sorts, their connections to athletic-related college and career options (its never too early) and healthy lifestyle choices. Woodworking II with Rick Jacobsen - The Philadelphia School
Bring your creativity, enthusiasm, and community spirit as we spend a week immersed in woodworking! Campers will learn about a variety of tools and techniques as they turn original project ideas into reality. Students will also participate in a service project partnering with students at the St. Aquinas Center in South Philly. Possible projects may include constructing a stool, a box, a bookshelf, birdhouse, musical instrument, a game, and more! Campers will work individually and collaboratively to plan, measure, cut, build, and decorate their projects using basic hand tools. Safety and proper use of protective eyewear will be stressed at all times, as campers work with saws, drills, chisels, hammers, and screwdrivers. Woodworking experience is not required; all that is needed is a desire to learn new skills and have fun! Early drop off is available at no additional cost from 8:00am-9:00am.
