With summer around the corner, many parents find themselves struggling to find fun, educational activities to schedule for their children. Working parents scramble to find childcare providers who offer a safe environment while still delivering their kids some real summer fun. Smoky Mountain Sk8way & FUN ZONE has once again partnered with area teachers and specialists to offer a fun, affordable, healthy and safe summer day camp experience for kids who've finished kindergarten through sixth grade. Skate, Learn, Play is the theme. This year the summer camp has gone the extra mile to become an officially licensed camp by the State of North Carolina which allows them to accept subsidized payments from Southwestern Child Development. The Sk8way has also added a 5,000 sq ft outdoor park for the kids to play in, new games and activities and even better, most will agree, they will have nutritious breakfast and lunches provided by the Haywood County School System. It's here! The Fall edition of our Teen Power Camp provides a fundamental fitness foundation for any high school student, scaled to anyone from first timers just trying to get into shape to high school athletes looking for structured off-season training or additional in-season work. The Teen Power Program will introduce athletes to bodyweight exercises, gymnastics, powerlifting and basic olympic weightlifting, all while under the close supervision of a certified CrossFit instructor. Our goal is to teach local Teens how to safely and efficiently move their body and external objects (bars, kettlebells, medicine balls, etc) through space, dramatically improving body composition and improving athletic ability in anyone. Our program is designed to increase stamina, strength, power, endurance, coordination, balance, accuracy and flexibility in any person, all while in a team environment filled with positive people. Every workout is scaled to ANY teens capacity. Teens must be at least 13 years of age and emotionally mature. Activities for Senior High could include (but is not limited to) Boogie Bowling (with strobe lights), laser tag, basketball, carpet ball, ping pong, volleyball, putt putting, water slide, water balloons, swimming, paddle boat riding, playing on playground equipment, softball, hiking, sharing bathroom & shower facilities with other campers, sleeping on floors in rooms at the Church building, community service, worship and recreation,and traveling to activities.
