There will be a total of two informational meetings (the second on January 31st). If you are applying to be a full time counselor for the first time, you are required to attend at least one of the meetings. Everyone loves cartoons! Learn the basics of cartooning focusing on the action line, gesture, expression, features, colors, textures, and values. Kids will review lots of popular cartoon works from Disney to Dreamworks. We will assign traits for the cartoon character, and then design original cartoons with those traits. Included in this workshop will be 2 days on caricature exaggeration practice. Kids will tap into their imaginations by coming up with names and titles for their own comic masterpieces. Fairy Tales Through a Microscope - The Evergreen School
Fairy tales do not require fairies… interesting! In this class, students will be examining fairy tales. Where did the term fairy tales come from? When did fairy tales begin? Some fairy tales explored this week include The Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk, and The Frog Prince. The original versions will read and discussed. We will take a look at todays childrens literature and how fairy tales have changed through the years… often in funny ways. We will explore different versions of tales from different cultures. Grades K-2: Improv! Class meets only on Mondays from 3:00- 4:15 The class dates are 1/4, 1/11, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/22, 2/29– 7 weeks ($85) Puppetry: Our puppetry session allows students to craft and perform with their own puppet!
