The year of 2016 is slowly, but surely, coming to end, and the new year of 2017 is rolling in. Join us as we remember the Old and celebrate the New on December 30th through January 2nd. Bryte Youth is doing something different by hosting this New Year up in the mountains, in the midst of the beautiful, God given nature. These four days will be spent with fellowship, worship, and a time to reflect about the previous year and pray over the new one. The focus of our topic will be Emmanuel: God is with us. Over the course of four days, you will all have an opportunity to discover where and when God has been with us, and how His guiding hand has led us all along. Of course, these four days will also be action packed with various activities. For those of you who want to relax, no worries. Spend the four days lounging in the cozy cabins, or go on a walk and taking in the beautiful scenery. Hi Everyone! It's almost 2016, which means it's finally time to start preparations for this summer's camp! The first informational meeting will be on Saturday, January 9th. There will be a total of two informational meetings (the second on January 31st). If you are applying to be a full time counselor for the first time, you are required to attend at least one of the meetings. Also, keep an eye out on your emails for the counselor application that will be released soon. Can't wait to see all of you on January 9th! Everyone loves cartoons! Learn the basics of cartooning focusing on the action line, gesture, expression, features, colors, textures, and values. Kids will review lots of popular cartoon works from Disney to Dreamworks. We will assign traits for the cartoon character, and then design original cartoons with those traits. Included in this workshop will be 2 days on caricature exaggeration practice. Kids will tap into their imaginations by coming up with names and titles for their own comic masterpieces. Fairy Tales Through a Microscope - The Evergreen School
Fairy tales do not require fairies… interesting! In this class, students will be examining fairy tales. Where did the term fairy tales come from? When did fairy tales begin? Some fairy tales explored this week include The Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk, and The Frog Prince. The original versions will read and discussed. We will take a look at todays childrens literature and how fairy tales have changed through the years… often in funny ways. We will explore different versions of tales from different cultures. Campers learn about important life saving techniques including first aid and CPR. Numerous hands-on projects including: mammalian heart dissection, using medical instruments, triage and diagnosis. Explore the structures and physiology of the amazing human body. Career opportunities are discussed as campers meet a real nursing professional.
