In this class designed exclusively for young developing minds, students get to follow in his footsteps by engaging in a variety of stimulating activities that cut across a wide range of disciplines. Tool use, building and engineering, chemistry and biology, art and design, spontaneous improvisation, and healthy dose of brain and body play are all mixed together to form this experience. Each activity will last anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes as students move from one subject to the next while making new discoveries about the diverse world around them. We are going around the world with this multi faceted day camp for kids! We will explore the art, language and culture of several different countries, including Brazil, Morocco and Japan. A variety of activities will fill our time together - art, sports, music and more! Campers will create and fill in their "passports" as we visit a new country each day. Kids from 8-13 are invited to join us for this 4 day camp, running Monday, August 15 - Thursday, August 18 from 9 am to 12:30 pm each day. Cost of camp is $120. The Founders and Evolution of Summer Resorts & Kids Camps - Readfield,
Four years ago Charles L. Day and Dale Potter-Clark began the process of gathering information for "Founders and Evolution of Summer Resorts..." right here at a Maranacook Community Education class. Fifty or more enthusiastic people gathered that evening to share stories and to learn about the resorts, hotels and kids’ camps that have existed in this immediate area. After years of conducting personal interviews, making site visits and doing exhaustive research Charles and Dale have published a 356 page book packed with 220+ vintage photos and information about more than forty establishments that have existed on the four lakes. Thrown in for good measure is “The Larches” on “Lake Myra” in Readfield. Included is the history of the railroad, steamboats and the trolley in this area as well as the various establishments, founders and directors. Dale will first talk about the process and some discoveries made while researching and writing the book and following this she will do a reading. She will be available to sell and sign books after the presentation. Potter-Clark will be offering three classes the spring of 2017 (Mar, Apr, May) at $12.50 each or $30 for all three. Proceeds will help fund a "Museum in the Streets" in Readfield.

2016 RVA Spring Break Trout Fishing Camp - Forest Hill Park
We have access to a great pond near Richmond that is stocked with trout during the colder months. We will head there to fish for stocked rainbows as well as bass and bluegill. We provide all the equipment. No experience needed. Boys and girls ages 7-15. Times 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Cost $75. 804-272-6362

Woodland Camp is our foundational primer for camping, safety and discovery. Are you ready for an epic adventure? Built your own fire? Made a home to keep you dry? Or ever carved wood? Well cook on fires, harvest wild edibles, make rope, tie knots and learn many other essential skills. Well also play our favorite outdoor games for a healthy dose of unmatched fun. Day campers are also welcome to stay for our Thursday night closing campfire, which runs until 8:45pm. Campers are assigned to a cabin, so become acquainted with camp life, and feel just as connected to camp as our overnight campers. Day campers should plan to bring a bathing suit and towel each day. They also should bring one blanket and pillow to use on their bunk during rest hour. Our Woodland Camp runs Monday – Friday, from 8am to 5pm. (802) 490-5550
Audition-Only College Level Teen Acting Intensive with Special Guest Instructors - Arts Effect Downtown
** PLEASE NOTE: You must audition and be accepted into this class BEFORE you register. This college-level acting workshop lead by Katie Cappiello and Meg McInerney along with Tisch School of The Arts faculty guests will focus on intense scene study and character development. Students will be challenged by advanced sense memory, improvisation, and text analysis exercises as they prepare scenes to be presented at the end of the workshop. Students will be assigned and emailed a scene prior to the workshop. This 5-day master class will require students to not only work in class on their pieces but also independently with scene partners outside of class – as they would in any theater arts college program. Animal Adventure Camp - Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Commission
This camp will explore subjects such a s animal behavior, biology, food chain, and the importance of biodiversity and conservation. Under close adult supervision there will be hands on interaction with real, live animals. Each day will feature a new animal friend, such as a reptile, amphibian, mammal, bird, or arthropod. Camp will include education, game, crafts, stories, and creative play. Please send a healthy snack with your child each day. 3-year olds (who are toilet trained) to children entering Kindergarten may enroll for morning preschool, available 5, 3, OR 2 days a week. A small class size of 16 students to 1 early childhood certified teacher and 1 trained associate enhances learning. The groundwork for early language, math and science skills is formed utilizing multi-sensory, child-centered activities. A unique phonics-based teaching system brings the alphabet to life, as it lays the foundation for reading. Each session is 4 weeks long - 5 day option: Monday-Friday - 3 day option: Monday, Wednesday, Friday - 2 day option: Tuesday, Thursday *Please consider sending your 4 or 5 year olds to our PreK kindergarten readiness Camps (see "2016 Summer Themed Camps" and look for PreK camps). These afternoon sessions are an opportunity for your 4 or 5 year old to prepare for a full day of school.
