Let's get our Oakland youth to Camp Common Ground Oakland! - Oakland,
Thank you so much for supporting Camp Common Ground's effort to get our youth leaders in Oakland to camp! Your attendance and participation at the launch of our second fundraiser will be imperative to ensuring that our youth from diverse racial and economic backgrounds can stand together this summer to break down barriers that exist between their communities. Come hungry and ready to drink, and don't forget your laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc. that we will use to get the word out about the fundraiser to all of our networks! What's the impact we will make in one day? The fundraiser will last for the entire month of March. During last month's fundraiser, Camp Common Ground supporters exceeded the fundraising goal of $4800. The $5400 raised will bring 4 Oakland youth to camp. During this fundraiser, we will raise $13,200, which will bring 16 more Oakland youth to camp--6 more on full scholarships and 10 on partial scholarships. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Kid's Yoga Summer Camp: Week 2 - Indianapolis, IN
More than ever before, kids face an abundance of pressures and stress. Mindfulness practices, such as yoga, meditation and breathwork, can give children the tools they need to navigate their life in a way that is true and authentic to them. During this special week of yoga camp, we will explore the many gifts that yoga has to give. Children will participate in activities that empower and center them, foster a strong sense of self, and connect them to the greater community. These ativities include, but are not limited to: Poses to empower, strengthen and bring balance Meditations and breathing practices to calm the body, mind and spirit Principles to guide healthy interactions w/ themselves and the world around them All exploration will take place in a playful, safe environment where each child can find their unique voice. Students will create a Yoga Journal throughout the week to serve as a memento from their week as well as a reference for home practice. Class size is limited to allow for best engagement of the day’s activities. A light, healthy snack (fruits & veggies) will be provided mid-morning. Our goal at the Annisquam Yacht Club Junior Sailing Tennis & Swimming Program is to Instill in children a love for sailing and the sea, an ease and confidence in handling of boats and enjoying waterfront recreation. Teach and develop basic swimming and water safety skills and abilities necessary for Program activities. Promote an awareness and observance of safety principles, equipment care and maintenance, and sportsmanship in all phases of seamanship. Develop racing skills and an aptitude for competitive sailing, according to interest and ability, Introduce children to tennis and develop their skills according to their interest and ability. The Landings at Spirit Golf Club has offered junior golf instruction for the past 16 years and PGA Director of Instruction Don Gorin has been instructing juniors for over 22 years. The facility will continue to provide trained and experienced instructors to help promote a lifetime sport. Our camps consist of range instruction on the full swing, short game, and on-course playing, while learning course etiquette and the rules of the game. Each camp session will have a maximum of 8 students per class and a minimum of 4. This will ensure plenty of individual instruction.
