Summer Camp - Full Day - Week 4 - Mockingbird Baby
Morning: Olympic Robot Games Discover how it feels to Go for the Gold as you and your teammates compete in a handful of sports for this class of Robotic Olympics. Each event/sport will test your robots structural integrity and maneuverability. At the same time, coach your robots with wireless technology while being put to the test. Using gears, pulleys and varying degrees of traction, students will build robotic athletes. We will compete at soccer, kickball, jousting, wrestling, a MYSTERY Sport and a race across the finish line. Sportsmanship and Robotic Competition Rule! Afternoon: Impossible Search & Rescue Teams in this class have accepted the challenge to be the first responder in circumstances of extreme weather, danger, abandonment and quarantine. This is the Place Heritage Park Art Camp (Session 2) - This is the Place Heritage Park
Join us as we take art to This is the Place Park. We will meet on location and will set-up our drawing boards to sketch pioneer-era architecture, gardens, and people in period costume. We will use several mediums including: pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, markers, and ink. This is a great time to learn new art techniques while spending time outdoors and learning about Utahs history. We will provide all the supplies as well as a VAI t-shirt for all students. Imagine the great cities of the world and their monumental and powerful architecture. We will create our own architectural firm for the chance to build things in 3D: a hockey rink, football stadium, golf course, art gallery, a museum, a roller coaster theme park, an aquarium, or even the great Roman Coliseum! As future architects, learn about perspective drawing and go outdoors to draw the architecture of Cary Academy. We Will Be Using A Combo Of ORANGE/GREEN DOT BALLS Depending On The Skill Level Of The Group... The ORANGE BALL allows young players to play on a 60 court with the same rules as those used on a regulation court. Playing the real game will promote the development of fundamentals required in game situations. For 7+ year olds that have gained skills from RED BALL play. The ratio of length to width is basically the same as a full sized court is to an adult. As the court and equipment dimensions are scaled down, young players are able to develop an all-court game style... ORANGE BALL tennis uses low-compression balls that facilitate this tactical development. The balls are easier to control and dont bounce as lively as a YELLOW BALL. On these courts players use 23-25 inch rackets (depending on player size) which gives better racquet and ball control. The modified equipment also assists with development of good mechanics. ORANGE BALL instruction is a series of game based drills, to develop players globally with a strong emphasis on fundamentals.
