Sammy Slug Summer Camp is offered by the Office of Physical Education, Recreation & Sports (OPERS) for boys and girls entering 1st through 6th grades. Based at the East Field House, this camp is offered in one-week sessions June to August. There are half day and full day options, and pre-camp and post camp care is available. Throughout the week the 5 camp tenants which are Responsibility, Respect, Leadership, Sportsmanship, and Team Building are reinforced and integrated into the curriculum. Camp activities include a variety of sports such as basketball, tennis, frisbee, and soccer; outdoor recreation such as hiking and swimming; and other arts, crafts and outings to keep the campers engaged, active and creative. With a camper to staff ratio of 10:1, the camp focuses on creating a safe environment with a program designed, implemented, and staffed by experienced recreation professionals and UCSC students. At BONA, we are always excited about the summer because we get to spend time with some great STUDENT athletes. Over the past 17 years, we have been blessed to only work with great athletes, many of whom have developed the skill and discipline to move on and become productive parts of the athletic and professional community. This summer we want to spend 5 days with your young student athlete and discuss the importance of working with a purpose. Our goal each summer is to work with 10 - 15 young men grades 6 -12 to meet specific camp objectives.

Work Weekend - Holcombe, WI
Always work to do to get the camp ready for the campers. Two roofs will have steel installed on them, cleaning of the chapel and some of the cabins, yard work. We will also be switching the shop and the game room so lots of hands will be needed there. At least 9 holes of miniaturegolf will be moved to the area around the garage (soon to be game room). Food will be provided. Let us know if you will be staying overnight so some cabins will be cleaned and ready. For those staying over Saturday night there will be a chapel service on Sunday morning. Lots of hands make light work so join us for a weekend of working, fishing, fellowshipping and enjoying God’s great outdoors.

Advanced Computer Camp - Pi Edition - Transylvania University
Experienced computer students are given the opportunity to work on advanced projects. This camps theme will involve the Raspberry Pi computers as a low-cost experimenters platform. Morning and afternoon programming sessions will begin with a short lecture, then you will be allowed to address several challenges in response to the topic covered in the lecture. Learn at your own pace, but instructors will be available to help if you have questions or problems. Evening sessions are reserved for independent work and network gaming. During camp, participants will live in a Transylvania residence hall and eat three meals a day in the dining hall, beginning with breakfast on Monday. Campers can also use Transys library, computer laboratory, and recreational facilities. Internet service will not be available in the dorm rooms. Campers must have attended a previous Transylvania computer camp or taken some programming classes at your high school. If you do not have this background, please consider registering for our Introduction to Computer Programming Camp, scheduled for June 12-17. Enrollment is limited to 35 campers. Campers will learn how to make several delicious and fun dishes. Meals are prepared and our restaurant opens at the end of the week for family and friends. Printmaking Studio with Ann Cheeks - Ah Haa School for the Arts
Explore some traditional printmaking techniques, from linocuts to monoprints. Students will learn how to create unique, handmade artwork for personal cards, gifts, posters or wall art. The workshop will introduce students to linocut techniques, the process of carving into soft printing blocks with linoleum cutters and printing with water-soluble inks. Monoprint techniques will also be taught for creating looser, more abstract images. All students should come away with no fewer than five images from printmaking techniques, and the skills to create more on their own with a few low-cost tools.
