One of our most popular camps! This camp is a young persons ticket to the world of Veterinary Medicine. Our lessons will give young vets an opportunity to look into the exciting careers of real veterinarians, and allow them to be involved in related hands-on activities and experiments. Camp Will is a specialized therapeutic summer day camp for children, adolescents and young adults (ages 6 through 23 years) with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our goal is to build confidence and self esteem, enhance social skills, foster independence, and provide an exciting and fun-filled summer through various activities, such as music, art, sports, recreation therapy, and more. On Stage: Footlight Camp - Matilda - Takoma Park Community Center
In On Stage: Footlights, everyone shines! Our camp is designed to allow students the opportunity to dive into performance and design/construction aspects of theatre by working on an abridged production. This year, students will perform 2-3 musical numbers from the Broadway hit, Matilda , based on Roald Dahls beloved book. All songs will be performed as a group, and everyone will get a chance to be Matilda! Well start each day with physical, vocal, imagination & focus building warm-ups. Heres what well be doing: * creating & developing characters * learning music/songs * blocking/choreographing musical numbers * playing drama games * getting to know the theatre space and theatre terminology * set design and construction * working with props and costumes Our goal is to have every student on stage, every student engaged in the creative process, every student proud of their work.
