Learn the ins and outs of camp through exploring with a half day. Camp Discovery is a great way to introduce your child to the camp experience. The camp will be combined with the K-2 camp located at the Butterfield Park District. Children will experience a wide variety of nature, crafts, sports, and games. 2016 Pre-Teen Summer Camp – Register March 9-11 - Scott Air Force Base
Youth, ages 9-13, are invited to register for the YP Pre-Teen Summer Camp which is held weekdays during the summer months from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This camp offers half day care with extracurricular activities for youth. Field trips will be conducted once a week to places like Sky Zone, City Museum, Raging Rivers Water Parks, The Fusion, laser tag, as well as excursions to base activities. (Field trips/activities such as bowling are an additional cost.) Fee: $100/child per week, plus the cost of excursions. Youth Programs membership is required. Annual Program membership is $48/child. Camp begins at 6:30 a.m., and ends at 12:30 p.m. when open recreation at the Youth Center starts. Youth are required to bring their own meals, however the snack bar is open periodically. Limited slots are available, sign-up early! Aspiring performer? Curious technician? Want to show your stuff? Want to show other peoples stuff to best effect? Then this is your camp. Campers will split into small groups to create and perform theatre vignettes. Both performance and technical theatre will be explored. Campers can self-select into their interest areas, and will have a chance to get hands on as actors, dancers, and singers. On the technical side, campers will learn the basics of: lighting; sound; and set and costume design. Families are invited to share the joy of fishing with your up-and-coming anglers, while learning about the complex environment of the Wiconisco Creek. Ample time will be dedicated to casting instruction and practice, as well as fishing along the creek. Equipment is provided. All participants must wear closed-toe, hard soled shoes that can get wet. Each child will receive a spin cast reel and rod at the conclusion of the day. Thanks to our program partners Bass Pro Shops, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and Doc Fritchey Chapter of Trout Unlimited, we are able to offer this camp at a reduced fee.
