Teen Wheel-Throwing - Ashtonn Means - The Art Center
Whether youve never touched clay before, thrown just one time, or have experience throwing, this is the class for all teens 14-18! Throughout this course students will learn the skills behind wheel-throwing, glaze application, and a basic understanding of Cone 10 materials and firing, as well as design principles for functional pottery, fundamentals of form, and aesthetic design techniques. Every class will have demonstrations, hands-on projects, and one-on-one guidance on the wheel-throwing process. Students are strongly encouraged to be self-directed and to bring project ideas and learning goals to work on throughout the eight-week course. Demonstrations will be geared toward students learning goals. See you there! Ashtonn Means is a Grand Junction native and has been doing ceramics since age thirteen. She continues to study at the Western Colorado Center for the Arts and is a member of the Grand Junction Clay Arts Guild. A senior at Colorado Mesa University, Ashtonn will graduate in May 2016 with a BFA in Studio Art and a minor in Psychology. Performance art is a catalyst in her pottery for the decorative design elements—slip trailing, stamping, glaze color, form—applied to the pieces. Primary Ballet - Old Trail School
The early childhood ballet class is designed to provide young students in grades K-2 the basic foundation for their dance education. This class welcomes beginners and will cover the fundamentals of classical ballet technique and etiquette. The important of strength, flexibility, rhythm, musicality, and memorization will be stressed. Students will work at a traditional barre, learn combinations in the center, and dance gracefully across the floor - the universal foundation for the training of a ballet dancer. Fun creative elements such as stories, songs, games, and other imaginative activities will keep the pace of the class lively and engaging. Basic Marksmanship - On Target Outfitters
Using air rifles, this camp offers boys and girls the opportunity to learn safe gun handling and develop basic marksmanship skills. Video Production Basics (PM) - The Digital Arts Experience
Come for 1 or 2 weeks! These programs are aimed at beginner to intermediate level students. Because our classes are small groups, instructors can gauge each students skill level and assign projects appropriately. All students will receive their own DAE 8GB flash drive to store their work on and take home! Watching movies is awesome but how do you make them? This class introduces students to the basic concepts of creating movies! Students will learn composition techniques to create interesting shots, how to tell a good story with clever editing and how to plan out their own project. Middle School Alive! - Mount Shepherd Retreat Center
"Alivers" will enjoy a fun and challenging combination of both on-site and off-site activities. Campers will be involved in on-site activities such as the group challenge course, swimming, crafts, hiking, campfires, talent shows, enjoy a group campout and cookout, play games, prepare skits for the weekly talent show, participate in devotions and help lead worship services. Other activities include high ropes, GaGa ball, and more. Off-site, campers may canoe on Lake Reese (about 10 miles from Mount Shepherd) and/or hike on Ridge Mountain (about seven miles from Mount Shepherd). 336-629-4085
