The year is 2025. Our rocket ship has landed on a distant planet and our class has been asked to make it a comfortable place to live and explore. Well build homes, rovers, machines and spacecraft - and power them with LEGO® motors. The projects include: •A space home with rotating solar panels above the roof powered by a LEGO® motor •All-terrain rover equipped with a satellite dish to explore the planet and report findings back to base •Research buggy with extras like a drill to analyze rocks and dig for minerals •Spacecraft to travel around the planet This class is great for a LEGO® fanatic as well as someone new to the world of brick construction. Students learn how to incorporate gears into projects, use battery packs and motors to power creations, interlock bricks for strength, make sturdy connections with LEGO Technic® beams and pegs, and more! Students play with and test out their creations through obstacle courses, imaginative play, and various teacher-inspired missions. Students take home a LEGO® mini-build and camp T-shirt. Our retreats begin Friday night and end Sunday early afternoon. At a retreat you can expect a weekend away full of building community, growing in our faith together. There are great talks, fun sessions, and time to pray, play, and relax! If you have any questions, let Betsy know! Learn to think quickly on your feet and act from the top of your head in this fun, silly, and engaging class. Play and perform favorite short form improv games, including those seen on TVs hit show Whose Line Is It Anyway?. Students gain confidence in public speaking, expressing themselves using their body and voice, and facing fears of stage fright and performance anxiety. Jump in, be big and bold, laugh, and learn the basics of acting through the wild, wonderful world of improvisation! No experience necessary; come one and come all. Class culminates in an original improv show for family and friends; written, created, hosted, and performed by the students. (No materials required aside from your imagination.) Ever wanted to learn how to create your own mobile app? Well here is your chance with App Creation and with Lafayettes Tech Coordinator, Mr. Wieand! Students will begin by learning some basics of computer science and block coding. As students develop skills we will begin using MITs App Inventor 2 to create apps compatible with Android devices. Ages: 5-12 (Campers must be age 5 by the beginning of the week of camp they are registering) Location : AMLD Community Center at 11500 El Salido Pkwy, Austin, TX 78750 (All activities are on-site, AMLD CC, El Salido Park & Pool) Days & Times: Monday- Friday 7:30am-6:00pm (Earliest drop off is 7:30am, Latest pick up is 6:00pm) Registration Fees: AMLD Resident: $175 Non-Resident: $190 Full payment is due at time of registration unless a payment plan has been set up.
