Sports Camp week 6- Lacrosse - Orchard Park Recreation
During the first hour of lacrosse camp, children will focus on the fundamental skills necessary to excel in the sport of lacrosse including cradling, passing, shooting and defense. Agility and hand eye coordination will also be emphasized. During the second hour, children will be able to eat a healthy snack and then participate in a series of cooperative games that will enhance their capabilities of being a good teammate and showing good sportsmanship The third hour of lacrosse camp will focus on learning the rules of the game (rules for boys and girls will be explained separately) and playing modified games of lacrosse. As the skills of each child advances over the course of the week, the third hour will consist of more realistic game like situations. Equipment will be provided. New This Year! Wild, Wild, West: California Natural History Are you ready to follow in the path of Lewis and Clark and Sacajawea? Explorers and Adventurers wanted to help discover new plants, new animals, new ways of living in the Wild West frontier. From grizzly bears to towering redwood trees and wild rivers to snow capped mountains we will adventure far and wide describing all that we see. Showtunes: Sing and Dance (August 15) - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
One of the most difficult aspects of musical theatre is being able to sing and dance at the same time. This camp will help to develop this ability. Working hard to prepare a selection of show tunes for a live performance will give the campers quality experience and better prepare them to participate in musicals at school and in the community. Campers will perform in large and small groups while also allowing each child to take the spotlight with a singing or dance solo within the group numbers. This is an opportunity for your child to build a talent that many young performers struggle with. INSTRUCTOR MICHAEL PAGE has been teaching theater for 8 years and has been choreographing in local community theaters for the past 10 years. He recently received a BA in Theater and Dance from Christopher Newport University. He currently works as a Music and Movement Teacher at VHBC Preschool as well as teaches classes at LTA, Mount Vernon REC Center, and Browne Academy. He teaches private acting, dancing, and guitar lessons from his home.
