Life Teen Fall Retreat
Fall retreat is on the way, print out the form, please don't delay! The form and check is all you need, to guarantee your spot - indeed! We'll talk and have fun, it'll be cool, it's for anyone and everyone in high school! Here are more details, but they don't rhyme. This whole Seussing thing takes too much time! Our retreats begin Friday night and end Sunday early afternoon. At a retreat you can expect a weekend away full of building community, growing in our faith together. There are great talks, fun sessions, and time to pray, play, and relax! If you have any questions, let Betsy know! The cost is $70 until 11/1 and then $80 from 11/2-8 Permission slip can be found at the "ticket" link.

Kids In The Arts Fall Camp - Knoxville, TN
A kids in the arts camp with various teachers teaching their loves in art, dance, story and performance. Activities included dance, Improv games, sculpture, dream catcher making, watercolor, painting, zen doodle, stained "glass", paper making, poetry, storytelling and more. Artist teachers include Mimi Eichholz, Jennifer White, Felecia Outsey, Kristi Gilleon, Karl Hess, Claudio Barrientos, Cynthia Baglir and Noelle Harb. On Friday we will take a field trip to Narrow Ridge Eath Literacy Center. Chaperons are welcome as wellas drivers to transport kids! Camp is $200. Scholarships are available too so ask about that. Field trips are available for Busy Bees, Dragonflies, Penguins & Potty Trained Pandas. All children must wear their Halsey Shirt on all field trips. If your child is under 3 years old he/she may attend the trip if you or your spouse or other loved one join us. Parents are always welcome to attend and space is limited. Environmental Art Camp (VSA Tennessee partnership) - Gallatin, TN
Environmental Art Camp is a program created specifically for individuals with disabilities over the age of 13 who are interested in the environment and have a love of art. The camp will be under the direction of VSA Tennessee teaching artist, Dee Kimbrell. During the camp, the young people will learn about environmental issues and their effect on our national parks. Participants will create their own tunnel books that reflect ecosystems within the parks. They will also create a larger tunnel book specific to the Smoky Mountain National Park. This book will be given to the park as a 100th anniversary gift at Tremont in October. The book will remain on site as an educational tool. Art Excellence Camp - Community Recreation Center (CRC)
Why sit at home when you could be making friends and creating art? This camp will be filled with a variety of arts and crafts projects. Learn about primary, secondary and tertiary colors and use several different types of art mediums. The 8-12 year old camp will have a brief overview of art history as well. There will be an art show the last day of camp. We will get messy so wear an old shirt, or bring a smock to class. Campers will receive a T-shirt! Basketball with Coach C. and Obvious Choice Sports - Germantown Friends School
Under the expert instruction of Courcy Magnus and the talented Obvious Choice coaching team, Basketball Club participants will hone essential skills, such as shooting, passing, dribbling and defense. Game concepts, including identifying opponents strengths and weaknesses and understanding basic defensive strategies, will also be incorporated. Beginning Band (AM) - MA Lower School Band Room
This course will focus on learning the basics of the woodwind, brass or percussion instrument of each students choice. Learning activities will center around small group instruction with like instruments, music theory and games, and a group rehearsal with all instruments combined. The week will conclude with a short informance by all band members. Open to students entering 5th grade who have no previous experience on a band instrument. She began training with Mental Floss, a Miami-based improv/sketch troupe which performed at the Coconut Grove Playhouse until Hurricane Andrew blew it all away. She went on to be a principal performer for over ten years with Laughing Gas Comedy Improv --Miamis longest-running improv theatre company. She then decided that Miami was just too warm and balmy and moved to Chicago (the improv epicenter), where she was involved with and trained with IO (formally Improv Olympics) and Second City. While in Chicago, Keely decided to follow President Obama to Washington D.C., to become his presidential jester; however, due to government cutbacks, she was furloughed.
