Campers will learn the ancient art of fencing beginning with the modern version of the court sword. Campers will learn basic foot drill, parry drill, and attacks. Physical skills in agility, coordination and fitness will be emphasized. Rules, scoring and judging, tactics and strategy are part of the fencing mental skills developed as well. Campers will sharpen concentration and alertness, reaction and evaluation. Sparring is safe and fun. Required equipment will be furnished. Minimum of four children. TNT Kid's Finess & Gymnastics invites you to participate in our Cheer & Dance Tumbling Camp for boys and girls on Saturday, September 10, 2016. We will teach the basics through advanced tumbling. Every athlete gets the opportunity for 1 on 1 coaching and spotting. Survivors Supporting Survivors TEEN SUPPORT GROUP This group is designed to offer an opportunity for the teens to talk about the struggles of a cancer diagnosis without becoming a counseling group. We set the table in a variety of way to help the healing process happen much faster. We guide them in real life challenges and allow them to discuss and support each other in ways you don’t see in normal life. Come prepared for an outdoor farm experience: dress weather-appropriate! Natural History - Week 2 - Natural History
Can you tell a bird from its call? Identify a mammal from its prints in the mud? Ever wonder where flying squirrels live? How to catch a snake or a bullfrog? Come join us as we adventure through creeks, marshes, forests, and the many natural places of beauty we have to explore on The Heights campus and all around the metropolitan area. The various ingredients of this camp make for a fantastic summer experience. From the personal attention and fun atmosphere of learning, to the outdoor adventures and games, this is an experience hard to beat or imitate. Activities: short classes, nature walks, daily journal, creek exploration, games, field and fishing trips, and specimen collection. Session I will focus on mammals, reptiles, and birds. Session II will focus on insects and trees. Staff Anton Vorozhko teaches 6th grade homeroom in the middle school. The Art of Cubism: Clay Reliefs - Location: Center for The Creative Arts
This class will explore cubist artist such as Picasso and Braque. Students will create their very own cubist work of art in clay while learning basic techniques of using slabs to create 3/D form. Students will learn basic and intermediate techniques of slab application, handbuilding, texture application, and glass fusion into clay. Exploring Palo Alto through Digital Photography, 2 - Mitchell Park Community Center (MPCC)
Join us for a full day art camp and learn about the fundamentals of digital photography, including composition, lighting, perspective, contrast, color, portraiture and motion, while you are out shooting in the field. Each morning, kids will take photographs in and around Mitchell Park and one to two field trips will be scheduled. In the afternoons, camp will take place in the computer lab at Mitchell Park Community Center, where kids will use PhotoshopTM to enhance, manipulate and finish digital images.
