Discovery 3.5-4 Full Day: WK 6 Olympics - Elmwood Franklin School
Join in the fun! Our younger campers enjoy busy days filled with games, science activities, Spanish classes, arts and crafts, organized sports, drama, story time, and field trips—all arranged around a weekly theme. Theres also daily swim instruction for our five- to seven-year-old campers given by Red Cross certified lifeguards. On Fridays of weeks one, three and five, Discovery campers take part in a short performance on stage followed by a slide show of the weeks events. 877-228-4881 x136
Materials Science - Ensworth High School
How does stuff break? To answer this question, students investigate how stuff is made and in doing so, will break stuff! Destructive and nondestructive tests will be conducted to investigate catastrophic failures such as bridge collapse, airplane structural failure, containers that leak, pipes that burst, and electrical failures. Advances in materials are at the core of significant technological advances, and we are in a materials revolution today! Students experience a hands-on introduction to materials science, engineering, and technology, joining researchers who push boundaries further than ever before, using biology, chemistry and physics to expand our technological frontiers. While Thomas Edison said invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration, this camp is 100% FUN! Children will overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors and most importantly - their mind! With a little bit of ingenuity children will create catapults and forts, construct working light sticks to take home and assemble a set of circuits with batteries and light bulbs.
