Since its founding, the Camp has served nearly 300 inner-city children each year, helping them to break the cycles of unhealthy lifestyles and behaviors. In 1946 the Pythian Youth Camp was carved out of the Sequoia National Forest, which is among the oldest national parks in the United States. The 23 structures that make up this historic wilderness camp are situated on a 19-acre parcel of land that runs along Woodward Creek, and is the nation’s first and only land grant youth camp.

My 11 year old son went to this camp quiet and reserved. He came back talkative and confident. He loved the opportunity to learn new social skills, explore nature and have fun with other children his own age. I highly recommend this wonderful camp.

I sent I child here last summer and she had a horrible summer! She told me horrible things! When I called the place the complain, the phone was not even working. They have the worst customer service ever. My daughter said they were also hungry and was never fed enough. She was bullied at the camp and said no adult did anything about it. There was a bear hunting and she heard the police shoot the bear mutiple times during the day. She tells me she doesn't want to go back. I definately am not going to anymore. Be careful parents be careful about sending your kids here.
