Musical Robots - MacRostie Art Center
Art, science, technology and math! Troy Rogers is a composer, instrument builder, and educator whose work often finds itself at various intersections of art and technology. For more than ten years, he has been creating robotic musical instruments and producing music for these novel devices. He will provide an ensemble of percussion robots for the workshop and guide students through the process. Kits available for purchase but not required for workshop participation. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a performance that evening at 7 pm, open to the public, at MacRostie Art Center! Ages 13 – 17. 218-326-2697

Treasure Island - The Georgetown Palace Theatre
Young Jim Hawkins longs for adventure and finds it in this classic Robert Louis Stevenson tale of pirates, pigaloos and buried treasure. This adaptation features an expanded script and eight original songs for a full-length musical production. Dancing and singing mixed with adventure and sword fighting mean that there is something for everyone in this Palace favorite. Python Process with Kim Howard Johnson - iO Theater
Howard has just returned from spending most of November on the road with John Cleese (including a stop at the iO), and is anxious to present the his own insights into the Monty Python writing process, and how it can work for you. This eight-week workshop will immerse participants in the Python creative process, and by the end of the eighth session, participants will have completed, polished sketches which can be presented on stage and/or filmed as a sketch show or revue. 312-929-2401

Explore Hogwarts: Year 3 - UWF Main Campus
Discover the wizarding world of Harry Potter from mystical creatures to potions at Explore Hogwarts: Year 3 for incoming 6th to 8th graders. Campers will read different parts of the Harry Potter books, play quidditch, construct wands, and write their own creative articles for the Daily Prophet. Summer BLAST! - 3 weeks - Oakwood
For children entering 2nd-6th grade: SUMMER BLAST! at Oakwood is an afternoon program designed to engage children in enriching, entertaining, and educational activities, and runs from 1:30–4:30 pm. Children may enroll in Summer BLAST! even if theyre not enrolled in the morning Summer Arts Academy program. If a child is enrolled in the morning Summer Arts Academy program, he/she will have a supervised lunchtime from 12:45–1:30 pm each day, and will need to bring a lunch. During the first session of the afternoon the children will be divided by age into two groups and will rotate between the two classes offered that week. During the second session students choose between Sports Club, Book Club, or Tennis Club. Students may enroll in one, two or all three weeks. The classes during the first session change each week.
