An apple a day keeps the doctor away? but how do you keep an entire community healthy and safe from terrorist attacks, deadly disease outbreaks, unsafe food and water, rabies, rats and other public health threats? Find out during Camp Public Health at Columbus Public Health. Campers will learn what it takes to protect community health in the 15th largest city in the country through hands-on activities with public health professionals including nurses, sanitarians, epidemiologists and doctors. They?ll also gain insight into active living features such as Art Walks, stream sampling, healthy foods and community gardens, as well as the use of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to promote public health. Flexible drop off time between 7:15-9 am. Flexible pick up time between 4-6 pm. Breakfast and lunch provided. Campers will transported from Schiller Recreation Center to the Columbus Public Health Department for camp and then back to Schiller. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Payment Information Payment by credit card is required at time of registration. Chad Garrett will be here all day from Ohio entertaining from acoustic, to karaoke, to being our DJ for the evening. Please look up #CONGA FOR KIDS CAMPAIGN on facebook and read his mission statement for a detailed description of his cause. This will be our 3rd consecutive December hosting a Coat-A-Kid Charity BootCamp! Come out to support an awesome charity, have fun and get your sweat on... that is unless you hate kids! ;) All fitness levels are welcome! Classes are 1 hour and begin at 8am & 9:30am. Max 20 people per group so be sure to sign up in advance! $20/person (you can pay at the door or in advance). The $20 donation will cover the cost of a NEW coat, gloves and hat for 1 child. Ceramics 2 - Wild Animals - Artists Exchange
Animals, Animals, Animals! Make and bird out of a flat piece of clay or turn a clay bowl into a piggy bank. Campers will learn basic clay hand building techniques in this week of camp where kingdom Animalia rules supreme. Ceramics camps allow children to immerse themselves in clay studio studies ranging from basic hand building, wheel throwing, and sculpting. Campers will learn a variety of skills designed to fit the camp they are in. Ceramic focus campers will learn the technical aspects of recycling, slab work, build a simple kiln from a metal trash can and firing pottery in it. All under the guidance of a professional potter and the fire department. Clay adventures offers a beginners taste of experimenting with clay. Sculpting camps have a slight focus on bringing 2-D drawings and images of characters into 3-D form. 401-490-9475
Dance Mini Camp - Fine Arts Academy
This three day camp is designed for boys and girls ages 5‐8. Children will explore ballet, jazz, hip‐hop, tap, and contemporary dance. Students will also have the opportunity to view musicals and ballets to stimulate creativity and exploration as they, together with the instructor, create their own dance routines and imagination!! This camp is the perfect introduction to a variety of dance styles and can help your young dancer decide which dance form they would like to learn more about in our fall program. Camp begins each morning at 9:00am, pick up time is 12:00.
