Kids Winter Art Camp: Mixed-Media Masks! - Bellingham, WA
In this winter break art class, we'll imagine that we are in a warm tropical place with palm trees, wild birds singing, and sandy beaches. To inspire our imagination, we’ll learn about the French post-Impressionist artist Paul Gauguin, the location of Tahiti, and a brief history of Tikis. Tiki masks actually have a long, rich history in Polynesian culture. The Tiki masks were originally hand-carved wooden masks that were used to symbolize deities, give protection, and increase luck. We'll create our own colorful and textured papers with paints with a variety of brushes, and different items to make texture, in mixed-media format, then use the painted papers to create our Tiki masks. Youth Lacrosse Summer Skills Camp (Grades 3-4) - Stoughton Recreation Department
This program is for children in grades 1-4th and all skill levels. The philosophy behind the program is to teach basic skills and fundamentals, develop athletic skills, make new friends, and most importantly have fun! The program stresses good sportsmanship at all times. All equipment will be provided. This is a good program to put your child in if theyre baseball, football, basketball, and/or hockey players. Many of the physical skills worked on during the camp will crossover to those sports. All equipment is provided. Robot Design using Inventor Pro 2016 (10th-12th) - Seattle Preparatory School
This 3-day class will focus on the design process using AutoCAD Inventor 2016 to take a conceptual idea to the prototyping stage. The emphasis will be on the effective design of a competitive robot for the VEX 2016-2017 competition season. Students will learn how to model subsystems in 3-D and then verify parts of their design by constructing the design using the VEX EDR systems. Do you like to discuss current events? Do you wish you could speak with more confidence? Learning the art of debate will help you understand how to analyze issues, speak with authority and engage others. Debate camp will introduce you to the fundamentals of competitive academic debate while learning the basics of good argument theory, the format and rules of competitive debate, critical thinking, research and speech skills.
