Wk 3 • Pet Habitats for the Discerning Animal: Design Thinking - Kala Gallery and Classroom
If youve ever wanted to design a play jungle for hamsters, a four-story luxury dog house, or the coolest cat castle the world has ever seen, this class is for you! In this workshop, well use Design Thinking to research, invent, and prototype new solutions for happier pets. Come prepared to create, think about animals, and build a pet utopia! Instructor Bio: Rei Jackler is an Oakland arts educator, design teacher, writer, and maker nerd. She holds a Masters in Teaching from Stanford University, where she also trained in Design Thinking at the D.School. In Oakland, she is currently Makerspace Manager for the La Escuelita Elementary School Makerspace, and has also taught design with Chapter 510. Rei loves making of all kinds: knitting multi-colored scarves, writing fantastical short stories, and baking with a lot of chocolate. Mountainside Adventures 1 - Mohonk Preserve Visitor Center
With the Mohonk Preserve and Mohonk Mountain House land as the arenas for exploration, Mountainside Adventures allows campers to have fun while hiking to new and exciting destinations each day. Campers will focus on developing their problem-solving skills through exciting team challenges and spend their days creating their own adventures along the trail. Days will be active with quiet time at the end of each day for reflection, be it sitting on a log in the forest or within the recess of a rock crevice. 2016 Camp Journey Spring Overnight - Camp Twin Lakes
Camp Journey is an overnight camp focused on social skills, building friendships, teamwork, manners, and self-esteem. Camp activities include directed social skills instruction in a typical overnight camp setting. Camp Journey is available to campers age 9 to young adult with Moderate*, Mild, and HFA/Aspergers Syndrome. *A small number of spaces are available for campers that need more adult support in daily living skills, social interaction, and communication.
