Be a good sister! Reflect on ways in which girls from the past and Girl Scouts today are similar and different in the way they play, celebrate, and support each other and those around them. Piano (Monday) - Janney Elementary School
Learning how to play instruments fosters self-expression, boosts listening skills, and enhances coordination. This new class is offered as an introduction for students to learn the basics of playing the piano and piano skills. Previous knowledge of playing is not required. It is open for both JAC and non-JAC students. Classes are 1-on-1 and last 15 minutes. The Enrichment Program will coordinate with JAC to transfer students to and from their lessons. Please note, however, the Janney Enrichment Program cannot provide supervision for non-JAC students after 3:30 PM. Students who are in a different class until 4:30 can be supervised to attend a piano class at 4:30 or 4:55. Previously enrolled students are given priority to ensure continuity of learning. 202-724-8950

Students learn to see the world through a different lens while acquiring language skills and the confidence to use them. We are excited to offer Spanish at Thurgood Marshall this fall with our engaging, research-driven curriculum, taught completely in language. Students learn important, everyday language through exciting thematic units and a wide variety of interactive games, activities, songs and art projects. Dream On! - The Georgetown Palace Theatre
One of Shakespeares most famous tales comes to life in this special adaptation of "A Midsummer Nights Dream" designed especially for tweens! This show takes the fear out of Shakespeare, bringing the characters vividly to life with abounding comedy and an outstanding musical score. The basic story remains intact, but is updated with modern vocabulary and music to make it accessible for everyone. This show has many speaking (and singing) roles to introduce students to your favorite characters. From the "rude mechanicals" Quince and Bottom and all the rest to the two sets of "lovers" that prove nothing has changed when it comes to teens having a "crush" on each other, to the wonderful fairy King and Queen with the energetic and mischievous Puck, there is a part for everyone!
