Our elementary-age curriculum is designed to teach basic to advanced drawing skills, art techniques and vocabulary. As students are introduced to a new subject matter each week, they learn a variety of art concepts including, Portraiture, Perspective, Still life, Art history, Color theory, Fundamental composition skills, Line and pat-terning and Art vocabulary. Sports Camp week 5- Basketball (ages 5-12) - Orchard Park Recreation
During the first hour of basketball camp, children will focus on the fundamental skills necessary to excel in the sport including dribbling, passing (chest passes, bounce passes, and overhead passes), shooting (jump shots and full shots), and man to man defense. Agility and hand eye coordination will also be emphasized. During the second hour, children will be able to eat a healthy snack and then participate in a series of cooperative games that will enhance their capabilities of being a good teammate and showing good sportsmanship. The third hour of basketball camp will focus on the basic rules such as traveling, double dribble, charging and blocking, as well as the duties of each position. Additionally modified games of basketball and cooperative games such as knock out, PIG, around the world and 21 will be played during the last hour. As the skills of each child advances, the third hour will consist of more realistic game like situations and a mini tournament based upon age group. Equipment will be provided. New This Year! Treibball Week 4 - Animal Training Adventure Center
Treibball is a new way to play with your dog! Its a competitive sport for dogs of all ages and sizes. Treibball promotes better teamwork and communication between a dog and his handler. Its great fun for any energetic dog who works well off-leash and needs a job. Playing the game uses a combination of classic obedience and herding cues. Treibball began in Germany to give energetic dogs some much needed mental and physical stimulation. It is a great game, and a perfect pastime for American dogs and their owners, too! Its fun for any dog that loves to play chase games, herd, or just use his amazing, problem-solving ability. Competing in Agility takes special equipment, the ability to run with your dog and direct him through each obstacle. Treibball promotes the same kind of teamwork and communication, but does not put any physical stress on the handler. This game can be used to build confidence for a shy dog and help a reactive dog with impulse control. The session will also include animal-themed games.
