Weeks 5-8 PM: 420 Racing Program (Session 2) - NESS
Come learn what it takes to be successful in fleet and team racing (the fun and challenging form of sailing as a team sport). Our experienced race coaches will challenge students to perfect their boat handling techniques, with the skipper and crew developing and refining coordination and mutual reliance. Students will work on improving and refining their boat-handling skills and developing together as a two-person team. Students will be challenged to perfect their upwind and downwind sailing techniques and will learn to better use hiking straps, tiller extensions, and sail controls and will develop their spinnaker and trapeze skills. Students will expand their knowledge of wind, weather, and tides, and will work on basic racing techniques and rules. Students will be encouraged to compete in the many local 420 regattas that we tow boats to by water. All students will be under the supervision of our race coaches in class and at local regattas. In addition to fleet racing, coaches will teach the techniques, tactics and rules of team racing through practice drills and a practice-race format. Game Design: McDonald - McDonald International School
Students in Game Design will have the opportunity to create a video game using Kodu Game Lab! Our theme is "Sea Life". Your child will utilize the sea creatures, objects and "bots" in order to save the underwater environment from toxic dredge and ooze. Students will learn to program an underwater submarine to clean up the ocean floor and defend our sea life. We will build the seafloor with the terrain tools, add sealife and objectives. Students will learn how to program scoreboards and timers in order to tell their story and program enemy bots. With a pro youll learn basic 2D scrolling-style game development techniques, moving into the Blender Game Engine to learn a modern 3D environment and to start using current game programming theory & procedures. Lego Robotics Camp - Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy
More than toys, LEGO building blocks are a doorway to mathematics, science and technology. They also are a blast to play with! Students in this camp will explore creative options with blocks, then work with FIRST LEGO League Jr. simple machine kits to explore key scientific models like levers, pulleys and gears. By the end, they will be on their way to FLL Jr. participation in the upcoming competition season, or just have enjoyed great hands‐on opportunities to learn some basic engineering.
