The Home and School Association is proud of LEP, a program for managing afterschool enrichment at Lafayette. The HSA will not directly operate any specific afterschool offerings, but will oversee and centralize the process of registration, attendance and program conformance to all DCPS mandates for using school facilities. Classes vary in content and approach to accommodate different learning styles and interests as well as covering a variety of ages. Enrichment programs aim to allow kids to experiment, take risks, learn new skills, make new friends and develop confidence to succeed inside and outside the classroom. Home School Day: Take it Apart - The Mini Maker
During this session the kids are given safety instruction for every day use of basic hand tools such as screw drivers. Your kids work in groups to take apart every day household items that the kids are familiar with. This includes non-operational power tools, computers, home printers, alarm clocks, DVD players, ect. This session is designed for the kids to understand the concept that every day items are built and there are components, big or small inside of them. Our lives are filled with great stories. Make believe is fun, but nothing is more powerful or fascinating than real life. Or at least, it can be, if you know where to look and how to write with attitude, flair, and honesty. Through four types of nonfiction storytelling—the interview, the review, the essay, and the memoir—this class will explore each writers unique voice and perspective on our world. What is funny, surreal, and important to you? What gets your goat? What cant you believe? Tiny Tots camp is a great place to make new friends, learn new things, and have fun! This camp is geared toward the 4-6 year old age group and offers a wide variety of exciting activities. Your child will enjoy weekly themes, four exciting field trips, and lots of outdoor fun! The dedicated staff of the Hartland Recreation Department provides a safe and stimulating environment for all. Contact the Hartland Rec Department to learn more, sign up, and join the fun. It is required that your child brings sunscreen, a bag lunch, mid-afternoon snack, and plenty of water. Ratio of instructors to children is 1:5 for this camp. In intensely supervised practices, our team oriented coaching staff focuses on developing your game style, improving fundamentals, getting you in tip-top shape, and making you a tougher competitor regardless of your ability level. A specialized program has been developed to help each athlete learn how to move more efficiently on the court.
