Renaissance is excited to provide an exciting, hands-on experience to teach students the basics of computer programming. The camp is available for rising 2rd graders-rising 6th graders. Students create their own games, learning modules, animations or interactivities using a programming language developed by the M.I.T. Media Lab. Elementary Beginning Scratch PLUS Legos: Fun With Programming Do you have a camper who is passionate about technology? Has your camper always loved building and working with Legos? Now, your camper can experience the best of both worlds in a new camp. In this class, campers will build with Legos but also learn how to use the program Scratch to make characters called Sprites dance, walk, talk, and interact with other Sprites on laptops. Scratch makes it easy for students to become a program designer and write top-notch programs that feature animations, stories and simulations. Its the easiest most exciting way to become a 21st century programmer! This is a weeklong camp combined with Lego building, which uses both a fun programming and building environment. Creative Kids Drop-In Winter Culinary Camp
Our 3rd day of camp, the students will prepare some fun and festive appitizers perfect for New Year's Eve! They will get to take home a selction to share with family and friends while ringing in the new year. Kid-friendly favorites such as pigs in a blanket, meatballs, cheese straws, and homemade ranch dip for veggies. Parents are welcome to stay or drop off. Learning areas: history, social studies, science, math, kitchen safety. Limit: 10 students Suggested ages: 6+ (younger are welcome with adult helper present) Warning: not an allergy-free event! THURS : PreK & Kindergarten Program - The Story of King Midas - The Philadelphia School
Join us for a fun-filled day experiencing an interactive storytelling adventure about the myth of King Midas! Each student will decorate a golden mask and participate in recreating the story. Students will also learn about Turkey and the cultural traditions of the land where King Midas once ruled. We will also explore the rich and colorful patterns of Turkish tiles, and each student will design and decorate their own tile to take home. A mid-morning snack will be served. Choice indoor and outdoor activities will be offered, as well as a walk to Taney Park, weather permitting. Please pack a lunch (including a beverage) in a disposable bag. For the safety of our students, please DO NOT INCLUDE PEANUT BUTTER or any nuts in your childs lunch.
