Whether youve just started learning an instrument or have been playing for years, playing steel pan is fun for everyone! We invite all instrumentalists to come learn to play pan - from percussionists to tuba players, violinists to bassoonists! If youre looking for a new, fun way to play music, youll love learning about this Caribbean instrument from Trinidad and Tobago. Youll have a chance to try out all of the instruments - from the high lead pan all the way down to the deep, low tones of the bass pans. Youll work with your instructor to learn basics of playing steel pan and play in several ensembles with everyone at the camp. Younger campers need a lot of reassurance and unconditional love, and that is exactly what they get at 7/11 Camp. For many kids, 7/11 Camp will be their first experience away from home. Students will learn how to create images of themselves while making self-portraits. They will practice close observation with mirrors as well as correct use of proportion, shading, and tone. Projects include realistic self-portraits in which students will attempt to achieve likeness and ab- stract portraits inspired by modern artists. 8-Week Introduction to non-contact rugby for grades K-2nd! Non-contact rugby is a modified version of the traditional tackle version of the game and is an excellent way to introduce the sport to new or young players. This version of the game focuses on the fundamental skills of rugby which help develop basic motor skills and coordination, while also having a huge emphasis on having fun!
