ROBOTICS Explore and build with Lego WeDo 2.0 robots. Students will build robots using the new Lego WeDo 2.0 system. Students will learn to assemble and program the robots to learn the basic concepts of programming. Once students have shown mastery of the system basics they will be allowed follow their own path as they investigate increasingly complex modules. Modules may include: Sorting to Recycle: Design a device that uses the physical properties of objects, including their shape and size, to sort them. Robust Structures: Investigate the characteristics that make a building earthquake resistant, using an earthquake simulator constructed from LEGO® bricks. MAKER STATION Learn how to build a catapult from common household materials and use the Engineering Design Process to improve your design. Prototype a foam rocket toy and experiment with the design to fly longer and farther. Build balloon powered rocket cars to race against your classmates. Students will be building with common household materials and applying the Engineering Design Process to their work. This camp is recommended for girls ages 8 through 16 years of age. My 13 year old daughter attended Mountain Top Summer Dance Camp. What she liked about it surprised me. She really enjoyed the camaraderie of other girls who shared her passion for dance. At the end of the camp, the girls all held a talent show, and they performed for the parents. Want to work outside this summer? Are you an outdoor program looking for potential employees? Come to the University of New Hampshire's annual Outdoor Jobs and Camp Fair Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the Granite State Room of the Memorial Union Building at UNH. More than 40 employers representing non-profit outdoor and environmental agencies, commercial outfitters, summer camps and international travel companies will attend this year's fair to recruit summer and full-time employees. Some representatives conduct on-the-spot interviews. The fair, which is free for job seekers and open to the public, attracts more than 400 students and others from diverse academic fields, including outdoor education, nursing, natural resources, recreation management, theatre arts, business, and equine sciences. Attendees can win raffle prizes donated by local businesses. This is a great opportunity for networking and obtaining employment or employees early on in the hiring season. What is Youth Councils? Youth Councils is a three day retreat specifically for Jr. High, High School and college age youth to be challenged and strengthened in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Who can attend Youth Councils? We have two tracks to set up so that we can tailor everything to the specific needs of your youth. To attend the Jr. High Track, youth must be in 6th, 7th or 8th grade by April 8, 2016. In order to be in the High School Track, youth need to be in 9th grade-age 25 by that same date. When is Youth Councils 2016? Youth Councils 2016 is being held from April 8-10, at Wonderland Camp & Conference Center. How much does Youth Councils cost? Only $25. Only $25?!
