Sea Perch Robotics - Middle School
This exciting new offering will coordinate with the Webb Institute. Located in Glen Cove, the Webb Institute is a private engineering college, offering a dual major in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Participants in the Sea Perch Program will build an underwater robot. The completed the robots will then be brought to Webb Institute for a day of in-water testing and head-to-head competitions that determine how well the robots were constructed and how well the human operators can control their custom-built submersible seacraft. CAMP Do you know who is living in your backyard and beyond? Come explore a variety of habitats in our community- fields, farms, and forest – and find out who and what is living and thriving there. Well discover fascinating connections among the plants, animals and humans where we live. Through hands-on experiences within these habitats, mixed with stories, songs, games and crafts, we will build our sense of place as we investigate where our food comes from, the human and natural history of this place, how our ecosystems work, and all about the many creatures who all call this place home. 4132566006.0

The next team sport to open up for registration in our new Grade 5/6 Team Sports Development Program will be Girls Lacrosse. The goal of this program is to help girls develop basic lacrosse game skills and to provide opportunities to apply these skills in modified game situations. This program will be coached by Ms. Margie Anderson, former NCAA Division I College player (UMass) and coach (UNH) and one of our coaches of the MS girls 7 & 8 grade Girls Lacrosse teams and by Mrs. Christy Woodburn, grade 5 Assistant. Practices will be held on the following Wednesdays and Fridays: April 20, 22 , 27, and 29 and May 6, and 11. In addition, a small number of games/scrimmages are scheduled on Monday 5/2 (Hudson Youth at OTS), Friday 5/13 (the Saints at OTS), Saturday 5/14 (noon CLE at OTS), plus on Wednesday 5/18 (Revere Youth at OTS). Minimum number of participants will be 12 Registration fee is $125 and the registration deadline is April 17, 2016 Players are strongly encouraged to bring their own goggles, mouth guards and sticks. Grades K – 8 Mon-Fri 4-6pm (students will be divided up into groups for age appropriate instruction and activities) Throughout each excitement-filled 8 week session, students will enjoy a variety of hands-on FUN activities that are guaranteed to blow their minds! From animal interactions, to games, hikes, some field trips, experiments and crafts. Students will also enjoy guest speakers from various professions such as, veterinary medicine, herpetology (special visits and instruction will be provided by National Geographics Dr. Brady Barr), marine biology, animal rescuing, zoo keeping, falconry, The Brickhouse, Jing Ying Kung Fu, learn about genetics with snake breeder, and much more to see what it takes to have an animal career!
