1st Session - Yoga For Kids - YSCP
Marlena Vendemia - Bio Marlena Vendemia worked in the corporate fitness setting before earning her M.S. in Exercise Physiology from The Pennsylvania State University. She currently holds a position as a Penn State fitness instructor working with pregnant women as part of the Healthy Moms Research Study. Most recently, Marlena earned her 200-hour registered yoga teacher certification. She found her yoga practice as a stay at home mother to her two small children. Marlena was drawn to pursue this certification due to the benefits she found through her own yoga practice. Her yoga practice has allowed her to find space, connection and possibility through the physical experience, things she hopes to help other students find as well. Her goal is to bring classes filled with truth, authenticity, love and fun to the State College community. In addition to teaching yoga at The PYP Studio, State College, Marlena also serves on the school board for Our Lady of Victory Preschool and on the advisory board for Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, University Park Campus. Feathered Friends - Tryon Creek State Natural Area
Tryon Creek is full of feathered friends. Some are bright, some eat insects, and some you can barely see! Campers will meet Audubon Society raptor, and discover what summer time birds live in the park. Look at me...Grades 1, 2, 3... for Coding, Robotics and More! What do Dinosaurs, Bees, Robots, Turtles and Elsa have in common? They all love to CODE! Join us for Primary Coding, Robotics and more-Grades 1-3 at Summer Academy. This two week course will give your child a glimpse into the world of coding, robotics and makerspace. We will use several different apps to learn all about coding and then use that coding knowledge to code our class Bee-Bots. We will also create something out of nothing for a variety of STEM-Based Challenges. Clay Camp: Session 1/ Grades 6 - 8 Learn the basics of wheel-throwing on the pottery wheel and a variety of handbuilding techniques.
