Creative Design & Build - The Swain School
In this session in the Makerspace we will combine two great activities - both provide the camper to express their creativity with tile and glass. Using broken tile pieces, the children will create and build a small mosaic tile table. Then with stained glass they will have a choice to make items such as boxes or sun catchers. How does the human eye see color and light? Join us in a hands-on exploration into the mechanics of light and discover how the eye and brain work together to see the world. They will sing an old folk song from Jolly Ireland, connect with their inner African animal through dance and learn a song about a gentle Japanese firefly. This class will explore cubist artist such as Picasso and Braque. Students will create their very own cubist work of art in clay while learning basic techniques of using slabs to create 3/D form. Students will learn basic and intermediate techniques of slab application, handbuilding, texture application, and glass fusion into clay. Students will complete the class with their very own cubist inspired clay relief wall art. A $15 materials fee is required for this course. 302 239-2434 x120
