LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Camp Casa (Ages 12-14) - Casa Mañana
Camp Casa is a place for students ages 8-14 of all skill levels to come and participate in professional training in the performing arts. It is a place for beginners to develop their theatrical craft and have fun, as well as a place for the advanced to hone their artistic skills. In addition to rehearsing and producing a full-length show (see below), campers will take classes in acting, music and dance. This years Camp Casa show will be THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE JR. By Gilbert and Sullivan! Camp will be held Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM- 5:00 PM, June 27-July 15 2016. Performances of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE JR. will be the weekend of July 15-17. The cost of Camp Casa is $1,000, plus a non-refundable $25.00 registration fee. A deposit of at least 10% of the full cost of the camp is due upon registration. The remaining balance is due no later than the first day of Camp (Monday, June 27th). You may cancel your registration up until 5PM on Monday, June 6th. After that, you agree to pay your remaining balance unless we are able to register someone from the waitlist to fill your spot. Tuition does not include tickets for performances. 817-321-5040

Our fourth week of cooking camp is for our 8-13 year old age group. In this 5 day fun filled camp, kids will visit the very places where food come's from and that's not the frozen food isle of the grocery store. Each day, we will explore the very places where beautiful, delicious, healthy food comes from. Then, it's back to the kitchen where we will create yummy dishes with the products that we learned about. Kids will have totally hands on experience both in and outside the kitchen. They will learn about nutrition, sustainability, responsible food sourcing along with basic cooking techniques, safe food handling, basic knife skills, recipe reading and so much more. Classes will be Monday thru Thursday from 8am-2pm with a fun cooking competition on Friday where the kids will cook for the parent's and compete for titles like most creative, dish, best knife skills, best use of cooking techniques and more. In this brief course we will review the evolution of photography from its beginnings to the digital cameras of today. Along the way, youll be introduced to some of the most influential individuals who played an important role leading to the creation of modern photography. We will discuss how painting influenced photography and how photography influenced painting. In just three sessions, well have a chance to see the oldest surviving photographs, Daguerreotypes, Silver Nitrate prints, early color photographs, modern pixel- based images and much more. Games played on Sunday afternoon. This is a six (6) week session. Time depends on number of teams - 1st group at 2:00, 2nd group if needed, at 3:15. Boys will receive a t-shirt and ball cap, girls will receive a t-shirt and visor. Players may wear shorts or baseball pants per coach decision, and regular tennis shoes will be fine. Players should provide their own bat and glove - YDL provides helmet to use, but you may provide your own if you so choose.
