Personal Finance 101 - Camp/Workshop Leader: Gardner Barrier Dates: June 27 - July 1 Rising grades: 6 - 9 In this camp your child will work through fun and engaging conversations and games that will start their journey into financial literacy. We will play games that introduce financial topics, we will explore spreadsheet functionality as we design and evaluate plans, and we will learn some basic lessons about how money works. This "camp" will feel at times like a summer seminar, at times like game play, and at times like group analysis. We will be thinking hard, having meaningful conversations, and having a good time. Participants will finish up the week feeling like blinders have been taken off. They will see the world differently. And theyll have fun, too! All students need to bring is a curiosity about how money works, a willingness to think about things differently, and a desire to learn as much as possible. We will not be leaving campus. The cost of this year's Snow Camp is $90. New visitors who are not already attending a church youth group can attend for free! Please sign up in our lower foyer or have your friend who attends FBC or FCS sign you up. Just be sure to give them your adult t-shirt size. Things are coming into place fast for Bethel's Student ministry, Beta Sigma, to have our very own summer camp, designed specificaly by and for Bethel students and their friends. Many exciting details are still falling into place, but some very important ones are already set: - Our worship band for the whole week is The Hardcastles, our camp worship band for the last two years at Camp Eagle. - Our speaker is former hockey player, youth evangelist and long time youth pastor, Shawn Roberts, who has spoken to thousands upon thousand of students and seen thousands come to know Christ. - Activities we know we'll have: river tubing, swimming, gaga ball, ulimate, football, hiking, square dancing, bow and arrow tag, airsoft, bonfires, small group talks, team challenges, camp challenges... - Best of all, we'll be serivng the community and the camp throughout the week doing service project. - So many more things to come, shirts, journals, themed meals and more...we'll keep you updated as things move. Camp Discovery - Week 9 - Butterfield Park District
Learn the ins and outs of camp through exploring with a half day. Camp Discovery is a great way to introduce your child to the camp experience. The camp will be combined with the K-2 camp located at the Butterfield Park District. Children will experience a wide variety of nature, crafts, sports, and games. This camp is designed to introduce the game of basketball to young players. Campers will learn the basic skills of what it takes to become a successful basketball players. Lil Topper Camp is all about teaching the fundamentals of basketball. Techniques taught include ball handling, shooting, and the importance of teamwork. Step Into Sewing (Audrey Oberman) This project-based 3 hour camp-day (x5 days) will start with the basics so no experience is needed! Campers will work at their own individual pace and may choose from several smaller projects like a needle book and pincushion and then work on a larger project throughout the week, or a mixture of both! They will learn how to thread machines, sew straight seams and iron them, as well as some different techniques for finishing seams, and how to add closures (snaps, buttons, zippers, ties) to projects. More experienced campers may choose to learn how to cut from a pattern and make a simple garment such as pajama shorts. During all weeks...New children: will work on the basics and pick special projects and team up with the experts. Returning children: will be able to continue with what they heave learned, re-make favorites. NEED: labeled water bottle, snack, lunch and shopping bag to hold projects.
