Cooking Around the World - Week 1 - Aidan Montessori School
Cooking Around the World with Mrs. Majeed Calling all elementary foodies and aspiring chefs! Cooking Around the World is a new summer camp featuring regional recipes* and cultural activities. On each day of our ___ week camp, students will create two different dishes, develop kitchen techniques, and learn about the various cultures our recipes originate from through stories or crafts. They will also bring home a sampling of their dishes! Our camp will end with a Farmers Market visit and cooperative cook-off, in which students will select a fruit or vegetable to build their own recipe with. *Recipes will be vegetarian and allergies will be accommodated. Session 1: June 13-July 8 (No camp on 7/4) - Summit Schools
3-year olds (who are toilet trained) to children entering Kindergarten may enroll for 5, 3 OR 2 half days of preschool. A small class size of 8 students to 1 early childhood certified teacher enhances learning. The groundwork for early language, math and science skills is formed utilizing multi-sensory, child-centered activities. A unique phonics-based teaching system brings the alphabet to life, as it lays the foundation for reading. Each session is 4 weeks long - 5 day option: Monday-Friday - 3 day option: Monday, Wednesday, Friday - 2 day option: Tuesday, Thursday *Please consider sending your 4 or 5 year olds to our PreK kindergarten readiness Camps (see "2016 Summer Themed Camps" and look for PreK camps). These afternoon sessions are an opportunity for your 4 or 5 year old to prepare for a full day of school. These PreK themed camps offer a fun, engaging learning environment as we work on kindergarten readiness through different weekly themes. *Please note: Students age 4 and up who are registered for a morning and afternoon camp within the same week are invited to stay for FREE supervised lunch and recess between 11:30 am-12:30 pm. Dream On! - The Georgetown Palace Theatre
One of Shakespeares most famous tales comes to life in this special adaptation of "A Midsummer Nights Dream" designed especially for tweens! This show takes the fear out of Shakespeare, bringing the characters vividly to life with abounding comedy and an outstanding musical score. The basic story remains intact, but is updated with modern vocabulary and music to make it accessible for everyone. This show has many speaking (and singing) roles to introduce students to your favorite characters. From the "rude mechanicals" Quince and Bottom and all the rest to the two sets of "lovers" that prove nothing has changed when it comes to teens having a "crush" on each other, to the wonderful fairy King and Queen with the energetic and mischievous Puck, there is a part for everyone!
