Robotics: Design & Performance / Game Design - Hazen High School
Explore the world of robotics using the new LEGO® Mindstorms EV3® line. Learn how to build and program robots by designing simpler versions of real world robots. Youll create a bot patterned after Starwood Hotels robot butler, which can be programmed to deliver objects to guests. Youll make an animatronic creature which senses people and says hello to them. Youll also make a line-following bot and one which moves along like an inchworm. Plus, well spend a morning working in teams to build and program robots to complete missions similar to those in First LEGO® League (FLL) competitions! Create your own scrolling adventure game using Stencyl®, one of the newest and best ways to create games for a computer or mobile device. You will select or design characters, give them properties and behaviors for movement and interactivity, use built-in physics, customize the backgrounds and levels, add sound and scoring, and so much more. When youre done, youll have your own unique game, ready to play at home (on Windows) or upload to Stencyls online game library for others to play. ET-FP-U13-U18 Boys and Girls - Meredith College Turf Field
Player Evaluation Events are held to determine readiness/acceptance into the Elite Technique program. Elite Technique is a 40-week training program divided into four, 10-week Cycles (two, 10-week Fall programs and two, 10-week Spring programs). Fall sessions run from early August through mid-December; Spring sessions run from early January through mid-June. One training session per week for 1¼ hours per session. Cost = $185 for each 10-week Cycle (paid before the start of each 10-week cycle); players will also be required to purchase one Elite Technique training jersey for the program (~$25). You must register for the entire 40-week series – registration for individual Cycles is not an option. Players may withdraw from the program at the end of a Cycle and future Cycles will not be charged. Two levels of the RailHawks Elite Technique field-player program: Elite Technique PLATINUM: Comprised of high-level Classic players. New players must register/attend a Player Evaluation Event to determine readiness/acceptance into the ET-Platinum or ET-Gold program. Scratch Programming - 10AM - The Digital Arts Experience
Scratch is a tile-based visual programming language developed by MIT that helps teach the logic and problem solving that drive computer programming. Scratch uses command blocks instead of code, and can be used to create interactive stories animations, video games and much more. This class is designed to give younger students an introduction to programming through fun, exciting, and interactive projects. Drivers Education - Bolles San Jose Campus
This course includes 30 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of actual driving time, and 12 hours of "in-car" observation. The first two weeks will consist of classroom instruction from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Athletic Conference room. Students will be asked to choose a driving session to comply with state requirements. There are two sessions to choose from, with no more than 9 allowed per session. Session I: June 27 - July 8 Session II: July 11 - July 21 All students must attend this segment to comply with State of Florida requirements. Before the students actual driving session, the student must have at least a restricted license. Within each driving session, there will be a driving group that will drive for an hour and a half each day for the two-week period. Similar driving experience will help determine the composition of each group.
