Yoga helps the student find balance at any age, calming the mind and relaxing the body. This class helps bring active minds into union with active bodies in a non-competitive environment. Kids will learn new poses in a fun and playful way that stretches and strengthens their imaginations as well as their bodies. Mats are provided. Previous yoga experience is not required. PREP Track & Field/Cross Country Camp - Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School
Prep runners will enhance their running and speed development at the Brebeuf Jesuits Track and St. Vincent Health Field, and also on one of the few, true Cross Country courses in the state. The running workshop is designed to help ALL athletes in ALL sports improve their speed, agility, and coordination by doing plyometric drills, speed chutes, bungee, and drills designed to increase propulsion, responses, and rate of stride. Prep runners will conclude their week with a track meet, where all families are invited and encouraged to attend. Head Cross Country/Track Coach Karl Knerr 74, has 25 years of experience in Cross Country and 30 years in Track & Field. He led the Braves to 3 consecutive State Finals in cross country. He just finished his 5th year as head track & field coach, and was named back-to-back IATCCC Coach of the Year as well as NFHS Boys Track & Field Coach of Year in 2014. Songwriting Workshop - Penncrest High School
This workshop would be for all 6th-12th graders interested in learning more about songwriting. No previous musical experience is required. Students would write their own original music, and gain skills on the keyboard that allow them to become better musicians and even self-accompany! This workshop is perfect for poets who wish they knew more about how to put their words to music, or experienced musicians who are stuck when it comes to writing lyrics. Week 3 PM - Fly Fishing - NESS
Come join NESS to learn about the fantastic sport of fly fishing. Saltwater fly fishing is used to target a variety of species available depending on the season. Striped bass and bluefish are local all summer, with the occasional transient like banded rudder fish and jack crevalle. Learn saltwater specific fly fishing techniques to fish your local waters. Gain experience in casting, tackle and fly selection, rigging, fish fighting and proper release techniques. This activity demands specific methods and large areas of space so enrollment is limited. Students should bring their own fishing rods and tackle ready for use. Some NESS rods are available and bait will be provided, please call to inquire.
