READING ENRICHMENT: June - Dunavant Upper School
This non-credit review course is designed for rising seventh, eighth, and ninth graders. Successfully completing the course (and passing the summer reading quizzes and tests on any book studied in the class) will satisfy the summer reading requirement for students enrolling at MUS for the 2016-17 school year. These students will be exempt from the summer reading tests required of all other students in the fall, and the students will earn quarter points in the following way: B to A (85-100) = +3 C to B (75-85) = +2 C- to C (70-74) = -2 F to D (0-69) = -6 Students should purchase these three books before the class begins: "A Wizard of Earthsea", Le Guin (HMH Books for Young Readers: 978-0547773742) "The Golden Compass", Pullman (Yearling: 978-0440418320) "MAUS II", Spiegelman (Pantheon: 978-0679729778) 901-260-1300

The Preseason Faceoff Clinic will focus around the three fundamentals for youth to advanced level players; technique, repetition, and competition. The face-off clinic will teach the players how to hold the stick properly, feet/stance alignment, stick alignment, and primary/counter moves. Specific face-off drills and advanced skill work performed at the college and MLL level will also be incorporated throughout the clinic. The first day will focus mainly on face-off instruction and repetition. The second day will focus mainly on repetition and competition.
