Awesome Camp for Girls
I went to CJDA every summer growing up, and now my girls attend every summer. I love it because they’re learning how to interact with other girls. With all of the back-biting and bullying you hear about in schools nowadays, I believe that CJDA works to counteract that. Girls at this camp learn to love and appreciate other girls. I have been invited to be the Lead Speaker at this Year’s Youth Leadership Camp being held by The Christ United Methodist Church and Mississippi Families for Kids on the June 27, 2016 starting at 9:30 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. I am so honored that I have have been asked and I look forward to Empowering our Leaders of Tomorrow with the Encouraging of Words of God. In addition, to utilizing my life experiences, professional knowledge and expertise to inform participants of what is necessary to achieve their goals and how to become successful adults. It is my desire that youth will be able to reach inside of themselves to identify those strengths that will be the driving forces for their futures. So, on June 27, 2016 come out and help us..... Professional Scene Study (Sp16JUN) - Aquila Morong Studio
This class is an "actors gymnasium," where you will be asked to follow direction, learn what directors look for on set, and get invaluable feedback on your work. Donna Morong, noted Casting Director and Acting Teacher, will provide feedback alongside a guest director as you are filmed performing scenes from film and TV. Students will learn how to work on-set under pressure in a simulated professional environment. Previous directors include: Randall Zisk (Scandal, The Mentalist, Monk), Gary Fleder (Homefront), Damon Santostefano (Three To Tango), Will Geiger (Elvis and Anabelle), Brett Simon (Assassination of a High School President), and Anna Mastro (Guidance,Walter). "I encourage my students to take risks, explore different choices and delve more deeply into the characters they are portraying. I provide an environment that is close to a professional work situation without the pressure of having to prove anything. I hope to develop their own internal sense of emotional truth as it applies to film, theater and television roles. This is a TEAM camp that will have very little instruction but will be set up more for Middle School teams getting prepared for the upcoming season. There will be different forms of tournaments set up that will vary based on the score of each set along with a traditional tournament that will run throughout the entire 3 days. The camp is $45 per camper and they will receive a lunch on all 3 days. Also, there is a team minimum of 8 kids per middle school. MOUNTAIN BIKING 201 $250 Grades 6+ July 25-29 8:30AM-2:00PM Did you know that within a half mile of the Greensboro Day School campus is access to over 35 miles of the best municipal mountain bike trails in North Carolina!?! Looking to build on a successful first year at the 2015 GDS summer camp , we are back for even more fun for 2016 with two sessions available! [MTB 101 June 13-17 and MTB 201 July 25-29] For a full week, your child will get the opportunity to safely explore our amazing local Greensboro mountain bike trails while also learning basic mountain bike repair and maintenance. Instruction will be provided from highly experienced local bike shop mechanics combined with skills instruction and guided rides from certified International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) guides. This camp will split time between instruction, skills sessions and most importantly bike riding! All your child needs is a bike in good working condition with knobby tires and a helmet.
