Whether you are an experienced gymnast or a beginner, this is the camp for you! With state of the art facilities and a fully qualified staff, get ready to learn and develop your acrobatic skills and tricks in a fun, safe environment with excellent coaches. Students will gain strength, flexibility, muscle coordination and gymnastics techniques that will give then an added edge in their physical and mental development. Field Hockey - Wellington Gym
Welcome to Portledges first field hockey camp! The program will be run by two of the Locust Valley field hockey coaches, Karissa McGrory and Tammy Caramico. Your athlete will need a field hockey stick, mouthguard, shinguards, cleats, and goalie equipment (if you are a goalie!). Session 1 is for any girl looking to love the sport of field hockey. The session will focus on beginner skills such as stick work, shooting, positions, and offense vs. defense. Girls will learn the proper stick skills learned to become a future field hockey star. In addition to learning the proper sportsmanship skills needed to become a well rounded athlete. We recommend athletes joining us for the first session are new players ranging from grades 3-9. Session 2 is for any advanced athlete looking to get ready for preseason and the fall school season. It is recommended that girls are interested in playing on the JV and Varsity level. Athletes during this session will work on expanding their knowledge of the sport, increasing stick skills, and working on specific offense and defensive skills to push athletes to the next level! Step Into Sewing (Audrey Oberman) This project-based 3 hour camp-day (x5 days) will start with the basics so no experience is needed! Campers will work at their own individual pace and may choose from several smaller projects like a needle book and pincushion and then work on a larger project throughout the week, or a mixture of both! They will learn how to thread machines, sew straight seams and iron them, as well as some different techniques for finishing seams, and how to add closures (snaps, buttons, zippers, ties) to projects. More experienced campers may choose to learn how to cut from a pattern and make a simple garment such as pajama shorts. During all weeks...New children: will work on the basics and pick special projects and team up with the experts. Returning children: will be able to continue with what they heave learned, re-make favorites. NEED: labeled water bottle, snack, lunch and shopping bag to hold projects.
