Session 9 - Camp Half Blood
Camp Half-Blood is offered in one-week sessions to boys and girls ages 7 through 12. Each session pulls its theme from a different Greek Myth. Using storytelling, live action role play and physically and mentally engaging activities, campers work with their friends to develop new skills, solve problems and create summer memories that will last a lifetime. Demi-Gods will learn archery, sword-fighting, forging, story-making, myth-writing, and create greek-inspired crafts. All of which theyll need in their weekly (quests) to find and defeat the ancient monsters that roam the hills and paths of our Prospect Park campsite. Camp Half-Blood is open to demi-Gods ages 7-12. Our drop-off and pick-up location is at the 9th Street and Prospect Park West entrance to Prospect Park. 3D Game Design with Minecraft - Fishers of Men Lutheran Church
Minecraft is a block-building sandbox game with no set rules, where you can build anything you can possible imagine. Lets pretend youre alone in a mysterious new world, full of hidden dangers. You have only minutes to find food and shelter before darkness falls and the monsters come looking for you. What do you do? What we teach you might just save your life! Learn how to find resources; make a shelter; craft tools, armor, and weapons, and protect yourself from monsters. Campers also create their own adventure map as design, production, and test playing guide them. Campers learn how to work as a team as they take on the real-world jobs of programmer, game designer, artist, and architect. There are two modes of the game. The scenario above describes the survival mode. There is also a creative mode where there are no monsters and you will be able to fly around and have unlimited resources to build amazing creations and buildings. Summer BLAST! - 3 weeks - Oakwood
For children entering 2nd-6th grade: SUMMER BLAST! at Oakwood is an afternoon program designed to engage children in enriching, entertaining, and educational activities, and runs from 1:30–4:30 pm. Children may enroll in Summer BLAST! even if theyre not enrolled in the morning Summer Arts Academy program. If a child is enrolled in the morning Summer Arts Academy program, he/she will have a supervised lunchtime from 12:45–1:30 pm each day, and will need to bring a lunch. During the first session of the afternoon the children will be divided by age into two groups and will rotate between the two classes offered that week. During the second session students choose between Sports Club, Book Club, or Tennis Club. Students may enroll in one, two or all three weeks. The classes during the first session change each week.
