E: Teen Intensive - Art Session - TitO Gate House
For those teens age 14-17 who would like to pursue the visual arts in more depth, we are offering a 2-week workshop that will be lead by local artists who work in a variety of mediums – painting, drawing, sculpting and journaling. This class will be held outdoors and blend exploration of the natural environment with the creative impulse. $475 for a 2-week session, August 8th-19th. 2pm-5:30pm. 978-465-2572

EXTREME ART! - Goleta Presbyterian Church
Take art to a new level! Whether you are an accomplished young artist or someone who thinks they cant do any art, we promise you are in for a hands-on 3 dimensional fun experience with wood burning, tie-dyeing with Indigo, printmaking, weaving and felting and that is truly EXTREME! We will teach you to use a special pyrography (wood burning) tool and to draw designs, patterns and texture into wood, leather and dried gourds. The ancient Greeks called it writing with fire. After the design is burned in, shading and coloring can be added. You will discover the art of printmaking, how to use a printing press, carve linoleum blocks into stamps, and create a masterpiece using natural items and a collagraph abstract print. Go back in time as you dye fibers using natural indigo and tie-die your camp t-shirt to the EXTREME! Create Native American inspired medicine pouches through a felting process and weave your own tapestry using card or hand looms from simple to complex. Full Day Enrollment - 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Morning Only (9:00 am - Noon) Storybook Theatre – Once upon a time there were creative young campers that gathered at the Community Arts Center for a week of fairytale fun! Your camper will create their own happily ever after! Afternoon Only (1:00 pm - 4:00 pm) Magical Muggles– Still waiting for your Hogwarts letter? So are we! This camp will be for us muggles ready to learn some magic! We will make our own wands, play quidditch, craft potions and get sorted into Houses. Let the magic begin! Visual Arts: From the homeland to the battlefront, art was used during WWII to promote duty and patriotism, capture historical moments and even as tactical strategy. Youll be stepping into the boots of the wartime poster artists behind the iconic Uncle Sam I Want YOU and Rosie the Riveter designs, combat artists that recorded the war firsthand and abstract artists that developed eye-manipulating military camouflage. Comedy: Abbott & Costello reigned as the 1940s "Kings Of Comedy," producing box office hits including "Buck Privates," "Hold That Ghost, and their 1948 monster masterpiece "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein." Their patter routine "Whos on First?" is one of the best-known comedy routines of all time.
