Back to School Boot Camp: Fourth and Fifth Grade CurriculumGet your mind and body fit for the school year with this unique experience. Join Mr. Chad Hamilton and Mr. Ben Spencer, both credentialed teachers, for their Back to School Boot Camp! The program combines academic tutoring and athletic activities. Reading, writing, and math skill building will be alternated with athletic activities to prepare incoming second, third, fourth, fifth & sixth graders. All curriculum will be aligned with Common Core Standards. Students will be given optional homework, needed literature and academic materials. Parents will be given an opportunity to share their childs needs prior to the camps introduction so curriculum can be individualized. Students will use the athletic activities and games to guide academic projects. Think calculating averages, graphing and sport related literature. Boot Campers will receive one-on-one and small group instruction! The Pottery Place has had quality art camps forover 10 years. All camps are taught by an experienced art instructor. Boys and girls alike are welcome to join us! All camps are small in size so we can give each child personalized attention. We always encourage campers to explore and express their own artistic style. Year after year we have gotten rave reviews from kids and aduts! This Years Teen Camp is something so different we are so excited about it! Your teen can make their very own end table! We will create a design and paint 25 tiles which will then be attached to the table and grouted. Who doesnt want an end table made by their own hands. Students will leave with the skills needed to work confidentially in the kitchen. This program is held for 3 hours a day over 4 days. Cost is $150 and includes a cookbook/workbook. Create amazing "green" artwork of all colors from an exciting variety of art materials in the TPS Creative Craft Laboratory! Experiment with new techniques to recycle, upcycle, and decorate with items that would otherwise be discarded. Each day, campers will explore different media and learn new art-making skills, with time to work on guided and independent projects. Draw, paint, sculpt, sew, and design trash into practical, beautiful art treasures in this week of creative fun! Early drop off is available at no additional cost from 8:00am-9:00am. Adventure Sailing M,W,F ($215 for 1 week, Members) - Nantucket Yacht Club
Please select a minimum of one week. The class, which meets 3 days a week, will have a distinct goal for each day: Long Sail Day - try to sail as far as possible from the club using wind direction, current/tide forecast, and navigational aides. During the following class the student will chart their course on a chart in the Sail Room with pins and yarn, and we can compare progress week to week. Star Chart Day - Students identify skills from the star chart they want to achieve (Anchoring, knots, upwind sailing, etc), and finally Catamaran Day! Students may take this course for a maximum of 4 weeks, and class may not be held if less than 2 children are signed up. The goal of Adventure Sailing is to accumulate the skills for the student to check out a Rhodes 19 on their own. (Note: Adventure Sailing will not be held during Race Week.) 508-228-1400
