Jazz Up Your Piano (49237P) - Cary Academy
Ever notice that performers like Billy Joel and bands like Coldplay can use the piano to get 16,000 people up on their feet dancing? Join us and jazz up YOUR piano playing! You will learn just a few cool chords and scales in order to create melodies and improvisations, and will use a lead sheet as a means to play almost anything right from the first time you see it. Bring your iPhones or iPads (if you have them) for recording. Well have a rockin performance on the last day with some guest pro musicians that will give you a chance to show off your new found chops! #20 LEAD Week (Girls Gr. 9-12) • $425 - Camp Fowler
This is camp for those who want not just to have an experience, but to make an experience. We bring out the leadership skills in all our campers and help you create a unique week of camp. You will participate in all the Fowler has to offer and gain some of the skills that our staff has learned. If you are in 10th-12th grade, participation in LEAD also allows you to apply to come as a Student Working in Ministry (SWiM) and use your newly honed skills alongside of the Fowler staff. Students need to fill out a SWiM application which can be found on the Fowler website. Weeks will be assigned on a first come - first served basis. 518-631-6789

New-US Writing Workshop SII (11th-12th) - Francis W Parker
Parkers new summer Writing Workshops for students entering grades 10-12 offers students the opportunity to learn, explore, review and practice a variety of writing skills, including grammar, usage and sentence structures. These intensive, one-week workshops will help students fill gaps, develop comfort, and prepare for future classroom writing experiences. These workshops will be taught by members of the Francis Parker English Department Faculty. In the workshop for rising 11th and 12th graders, students will work in a variety of genres including persuasive, analytical, narrative and creative, with a special concentration on grammar/usage and the personal essay. A small class size ensures that students will have time to gain understanding and confidence in their writing. 773.797.5104

Robotics-Maker Station - Amador Elementary School
ROBOTICS Explore and build with Lego WeDo 2.0 robots. Students will build robots using the new Lego WeDo 2.0 system. Students will learn to assemble and program the robots to learn the basic concepts of programming. Once students have shown mastery of the system basics they will be allowed follow their own path as they investigate increasingly complex modules. Modules may include: Sorting to Recycle: Design a device that uses the physical properties of objects, including their shape and size, to sort them. Robust Structures: Investigate the characteristics that make a building earthquake resistant, using an earthquake simulator constructed from LEGO® bricks. MAKER STATION Learn how to build a catapult from common household materials and use the Engineering Design Process to improve your design. Prototype a foam rocket toy and experiment with the design to fly longer and farther. Build balloon powered rocket cars to race against your classmates. Students will be building with common household materials and applying the Engineering Design Process to their work.
