Architectural Adventures combines science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts in a uniquely fun and challenging way valuable for young people to enjoy, that allows hands-on learning experiences. Children will be inspired by building upon their natural curiosity to learn about different aspects of modern architecture. For example, a ‘green engineering unit allows students to create, test, and refine architectural designs involving the use of alternative energy and environmental awareness. Students will learn how to build efficient wind powered machines and discover how these machines can help reduce fuel consumption. Throughout the week, students will apply basic engineering design concepts to create, test, and refine a variety of machines and mechanical systems, including cars, planes, and cranes. Students will also learn the basics of fluid dynamics while constructing roller coasters and other vehicles, culminating in the construction of an incredibly fast air powered dragster that students get to keep at the end of the course. Students will also compete in groups to build the highest structure! For over 20 years FONZ Nature Camp has matched campers with an appreciation for the great outdoors. My 13 year old son has attended this camp for the last 3 years. He plans to go again next year as well. 2 Weeks of Aikido Camp. Monday through Friday Camp Hours: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Early drop (starting from 7:30am) off & late pick up (up to 6pm) up also available. We start at the dojo in the morning with formal Aikido classes. Then we clean up, eat lunch, and weather permitting, change into beach wear and head to the beach for lots of Aikido-related games and races, like sumo wrestling and bokto watermelon-cutting. Teen Empowerment & Survival Camp Summer 2016 - Tucson, AZ
This camp is designed specifically with teenagers’ safety and well-being in mind. As parents, we want our teenagers to be safe, but we also want them to grow up feeling comfortable with themselves, having a healthy self-esteem and self-image. This means equipping them with the skills and knowledge to assess and deal with both physically and psychologically threatening situations. Safety at school cannot be overstressed. Since this where our teenagers spend a large majority of their day regularly, the probability of their being exposed to, or involved in, dangerous or unhealthy situations is extremely high. Whether it’s an outside threat that poses a danger to the entire school, or a fellow student whose words and actions are psychologically damaging to an individual, our teenagers should know how to assess and act before, during, and after an event. Minecraft Build Off Tournament - The Digital Arts Experience
The Digital Arts Experiences Minecraft Build-Off Tournament IS BACK! Participants will have 1 hour to build in creative mode by choosing from a list of 3 categories. Previous tournament choices were "Fortress", "Dragon", "Roller Coaster", "Modern House", and "Space Ship". Similarly, we will give new categories to choose from! We encourage you to bring your own computer as we set up a nice space in our main area to compete with other kids, adding to the social aspect of the game. Prizes will be given to winners based on judging. All participants will go home with a small prize regardless of win or lose! Coffee and donuts will be provided by The DAE staff. Students explore electronics, coding, design and fashion as they create wearable technology. Theyll design clothing, interactive toys, and accessories that incorporate advanced electronic technologies. Design a shirt that integrates programming and sensors to monitor your heart rate, a wristband that tracks how many steps taken or calories burned, or light up shoes. Once you understand the basics of circuit design the possibilities are endless. Take home cutting edge gadgets that bring together craft, electronics, and programming. Lower Elementary class, grade 2 student. Morning work period and snack followed by recess, lunch and afternoon work period. Program includes specials in music, physical education and Spanish as well as numerous field trips and hands-on projects. 518-334-3099
Girls Only! Day Hiking - The Evergreen School
This 4-day week will include two days of moderate hiking, followed by a more leisurely day outside, and will culminate in an early start to accomplish our most rigorous hike of the week on Friday. Anyone who identifies as a girl may join us for this relaxing and invigorating week of hiking. Come spend Seattles first week of summer hiking some of the best trails and mountains within an hour of the city. Students must wear shoes appropriate for hiking and bring a lunch and a full water bottle as well as a swim suit each day. Optional, but students may also bring a journal and camera. 206-957-1533
7-12 Owl Pride Team Football Camp - SHS Stadium
Owl Pride Team Camp is for all student-athletes interested in playing football who will be in grades 7-12 during the 2016-2017 school year. Campers should bring athletic wear and football cleats to camp. Pre-registered campers will receive a camp shirt and water bottle. Walk-up registration will be accepted, but shirts and water bottles will not be guaranteed and will be provided on a first come, first served basis.
