Teen Summer Garden Camp - Carlisle, PA
Cumberland County, PA – New this summer, a horticulture program designed just for teens! Join the Master Gardeners of Cumberland County for their first-ever Teen Summer Garden Camp on two Mondays, June 20 and June 27, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Held at the Penn State Extension Office in Carlisle and the Southeast Agricultural Research and Extension Center (SEAREC) in Manheim, PA, this fun-filled camp offers teens ages 13-15, or in grades 7-9, the ability to explore and discover the “behind-the-scenes” of a garden. The first camp session on June 20 offers teens the opportunity to delve deeper into horticulture topics and engage in hands-on learning about the scientific method, photosynthesis, chromatography, soils, microscope skills, and plant identification. Teens will also build their very own gourd birdhouse. Come prepared for plenty of exploration, observations, activities and discussions! For the second camp session on June 27, teens will travel to the Southeast Agricultural Research and Extension Center (SEAREC) in Manheim, PA. Campers will take a wagon tour across the research farm, explore thousands of annual and perennial flowers, visit the Idea Gardens, and create a colorful bandana using vegetable dyes. Boys Mountain Bike Camp Week 6 - Knott Hall
Like riding your bike in the woods? Want to take your riding to the next level? Whether you ride all the time or just like to play in the woods, join our staff for a week of mountain bike riding at Loyola and area trails. Climb better and descend with more control. Learn how to shift more efficiently, brake properly and ride with more confidence. Additionally, we will cover basic bicycle and trail maintenance and develop an appreciation for the outdoors in a fun and safe environment. *While riding is our main focus in this camp, we realize that we are at the mercy of Mother Nature and should there be inclement weather additional activities may be deemed more appropriate. CAMP DETAILS Musical Theater Week Thank you for the music! In this camp, students will have fun exploring their own personal voices through songs and dances from various musicals! In addition to drama and improv games that foster theater skills in creativity, self-expression and teamwork, campers will create their own show that incorporates songs from their favorite musicals. Throughout the week we will also work together to create prop, costume and set pieces to use in our culminating original show that highlights our collaborative efforts!
