Kids Spring Break Camp - Hermitage Museum & Gardens
Magical Gardens Gardens are a major part of what makes the Hermitage so special. During this week of camp we will celebrate various gardens as we take your young artist out into the beautiful Rose Garden, Sunken Garden, and Rain Gardens at the Hermitage. Campers will do observational drawings, landscape paintings and create their very own ‘magical garden. Through nature walks they will discover garden sculptures and learn about patterns in the natural world. This year campers will also have a special opportunity to contribute to the Hermitages very own vegetable garden! Allow your artist to discover magic in the Hermitage Gardens! The camp day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m., with a morning session that will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon, lunch and playing time from noon to 1:00 p.m., and the afternoon session from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. The camp day ends promptly at 4:00 p.m. 757-423-2052 x203

Global Scientists - Middle School
Nearly one billion people on our planet lack access to clean water. Thats one billion people who cant drink from a faucet, shower or cook a meal without risk of illness - or worse! In this course, students will collaborate with a Global Partner Student from a developing country to help quench the thirst of the world. Through video message exchanges they will learn about each other and explore how water is used in each others culture, study the chemical properties of water and the water cycle, and then use the engineering design process to build, test and tweak biodomes, water towers, and water filtration systems to better understand how water systems can be polluted and purified. As their understanding of the subject matter grows, students will work closely with their Global Partners to develop a hands-on research project that shows the water problems each of their countries face while sharing practical ways to address these problems and help bring clean water to the world! Tap for Beginners (Youth) - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
This course is designed as an introductory course for children who are interested in trying tap for the first time or would like to work on their technique and tap vocabulary. In this class the students will learn the basics of the American Musical Theatre tap dance style, as well as choreography to at least one song. Students will learn basic tap terminology along with tap performing techniques which will provide the student with a well-rounded knowledge of tap dance. This class is designed for 2nd-8th grade students. INSTRUCTOR MICHAEL PAGE graduated from Christopher Newport University with a Bachelors degree in Theater, focusing on Musical Theater Performance, Directing, Dance/Choreography, and Lighting. He has been very active for the past 10 years in the Alexandria theater community, working with theaters such as; MVCCT, PCP, ACCT, and LTA. He has directed, choreographed, and fight choreographed children and adults alike.
