Parents should always take the time to consider a camp’s facilities and features when selecting a program for their children. It is important to keep in mind advanced facilities as well as safety. The location of the camp is important. Some programs have pools whereas others have lakes. It is important to explore what makes each organization and its program different. Many camps will have photos and information about their camp’s features and facilities online. Taking a tour is another chance to see the facilities.

For example, if a program is located near the ocean, then children will not only get to spend the summer swimming but may also get to sail and learn about ocean life. Some camps have state-of-the-art pools, barns, and art complexes whereas others are about youth learning about nature. Families should also ask about laundry facilities, mail, and about where youth will play sports.
